Hisense "American Style" f/f RS696N4IB1
It used to work fine but we moved to a new house and it took me a while to plumb in the water (a year or so...). Now I have connected the water I find that the drinking water function works okay but the ice dispenser doesn't.
Investigation shows no water is getting to the ice tray.
Diagnostics:
1) The water tube to the ice dispenser is not blocked.
2) Water is going in to the solenoid inlet valve at the base of the f/f (where the tube to the ice tray connects). (See picture)
3) Water is not coming out of that valve.
Obviously that valve should open when you switch on ICE on the control panel but it isn't.
Other factors that determine if power gets to that valve are the "ice bucket full" lever switch - that is in the up "on" position. I read there is a temperature sensor that may have a connection here somewhere too.
Before I replace the valve (£100) I want to see if it is getting power. It apparently switches on mains voltage so I need to be sure I am putting a meter across the right connections.
It has two purple wires going to it which makes me think that the plunger moves one way and then returns on a spring when power is cut. But that would suggest it is permanently energised when the ice maker is on so maybe I am off on that.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram? Or any other thoughts?
