I know, agreed re DAB, it's just the last radio ( which developed a fault ) was DAB. FM might be OK, reception not brilliant though.

DAB Radio needed to turn on when power applied

Thanks for all the suggestions. It's actually for an immobile elderly relative. They don't like Alexa, thinks it's creepy! I guess a radio with its own remote might be the best solution.

DAB Radio needed to turn on when power applied

Does anyone know of a make of DAB radio which will turn on when power is applied from the mains power supply. Its because I want it to come on using a wireless remote socket, so , not to have to touch any power switch on the radio, just a power on button on the socket remote supplying it. Any...

TV: Edge Lit vs Full LED Array

Hi I hoped someone might be able to offer some advice: I'm looking at 2 Sony tvs, XH8505 series which is edge lit display, and XH9505 series, which seems very similar in most respects, except it has Full Array LED and costs about £150 more. I realise that the one has leds only at the edge of the...

Good point, ours is fairly old, doesn't have yellow or blue integral lagging, just strap on cylinder jacket, ( well 2 actually) it does retain heat for easily 18-24hrs, but I don't know what the coil will be.

Remote control of heating without Nest/Hive or similar

Interesting post Eric, your hot water takes only 20 minutes to heat up,? mine seems to take ( conventional open vented cylinder) easily an hour to fully heat. Do you have you boiler stat set near max?

    Energy History how?

I thought the idea was the roomstat would provide the main temperature control Eric ? If its on most of the day, doesn't that mean the boiler is running just to heat pipework if the TRVs have closed? Would it not be more economical to allow the roomstat to cycle the boiler on and off?

The pressure was quite high, all flats had a conventional non pumped triton electric shower, so, might be possible for you, depending upon supply pressure/ flow rate. As...
