Joist Hanger selection for 6x2 Garden Building base?

Ah ok! I've already got it all in place, taking it all apart for that would be a nightmare! :) Next time maybe. I think it'll have to be joist hangers, I just dont know how to tell if the ones I am looking at are 'strong' enough - it'll be an office and gym, some heavy-ish equipment (running...

Joist Hanger selection for 6x2 Garden Building base?

Care to explain, I don't know what you mean :) The 6x2 frame and joists for the building are all in place at the moment, just with a couple of screws to hold then temporarily until I add joist holders (or whatever)

Joist Hanger selection for 6x2 Garden Building base?

I've spent way too long trying to work out which type of joist hangers I should use for the base of my garden room/office. Too many options at quite big price differences. I'm using 6x2 (145x45) C24. Would these be strong enough - Simpson Strong-tie THM230/47 Mono Truss Hanger 47mm ? In the...

    Loft insulation - 125mm Joists

I’m looking to add insulation to my loft. The joists are 125mm Is there a problem with putting 100mm between the joists, and then 170mm on top? Will the 25mm gap be an issue? I assume the top roll will probably settle and fill the gap?

Concrete block pile foundation for shed - how to level?

The plan was to put some concrete at the bottom and build up blocks. My concerns were around the fact some of the holes have to be quite deep, and I was worrying too much about getting all the piers spot on level. Using steel packers mentioned earlier should solve it as long as i’m not too...

Concrete block pile foundation for shed - how to level?

I am planning on building a couple of garden buildings, one 30sqm, and another smaller 'practice shed' that is around 9sqm. Both are on a hill, the smaller building on a steeper bit of land than the larger one (which is flat-ish mostly). Due to the location, materials have to be transported by...

Basements - what is meant by a protected stairs?

Hi, I am looking at buying a house, it currently has a basement that is being used as a computer room. I'm assuming that officially its just a 'storage room'. I was looking at what would need to be done to allow me to use it as somewhere to have the PC, which I guess would make it...
