Bear with me., this is heating related: All sockets tripped -Thought it was caused by an old coffee appliance my husband was cleaning out.
We checked the fuse board and the RCD wouldn't reset - unplugged everything, then reset it - sockets back.
The heating system/burner had no life. Husband...
Terrwookfit Thankyou for that booklet, also ventilation is a small window with an air vent on top.
Durhamplumber, good luck indeed!
Gasguru ill post photos of log burner tomorrow
So, he came back today. He said he couldn't smell anything, but it must be the rubber seals in the joints, took it...
Thank you Terrywookfit, I'm going to ask him to put back the black enamel pipe or a new one, and have the liner just coming down to the bottom of the chimney. Now I just have to hope he will do it and not get p'd off with me.....
I have a Co2 detector in the boiler room and there is nothing showing. The smell could be from the heat resistant silicone he used? or the liner itself??
The liner was installed by a plumber. He is coming back tomorrow - some helpful suggestions as to what I can say to him/ask him to fix...
Hi there, after noticing a dripping leak from the oil burner chimney pipe, we had a flue liner put in the chimney (there was none)
The new flexible liner seems to be giving off a seriously strong smell, I should mention that our oil burner is inside our house in a room off the back kitchen.
The...
Lostinthelight -
"So does the vitrius fit into a flexible liner ? can you draw a diagram of the flue system the take a picture of it and upload?"
We don't think there is a liner there -, so the plumber mentioned future proofing with a flexible liner that would fit a combi boiler when our...
Hi Guys, sorry for delay, these are some outside photos.
If its just to replace/install the flexible flue liner, what would the rough price be?
I'm waiting on either the plumber or roofer to come back to me, I hate chasing people.
My next step is to go to the builders merchant and see if...
Thank you Oilhead, not sure, we bought the house 4 years ago but I strongly suspect the chimney is not lined as following a chimney fire in the living room we had to get it lined with flexible coil. Cowl is a 'china man hat'.
lostinthelight - i'll get a photo during the day and post it.
We...
HI Guys,
There seems to be a leak coming from the concrete surround that the oil burner chimney pipe goes up through - see photos.
We had a plumber out today who said its nothing serious...probably just rain water coming down the chimney?? He didn't do anything, suggested if we wanted to get a...
Hi there, our sun room/windows on living room are really draughty on the corners. So much so, that if you put your hand near the sill you can feel the wind coming in.
Is it a builder or a window company I need to get advice from?
House is only 12 years old.
3rd photo is of sill when I...
Thanks all for your advice. I've kept a low fire going every night since I posted. The smell only seems to be there whenever I put in a heat log, so I'm sticking to coal which doesn't produce big flame.
Hopefully that'll sort it out.
Hi there,
following a chimney fire 3 years ago in our new house, we got a new stove installed and the flue lined etc.
However, the new stove - Morso - has an acrid smell each time we put it on.
The smell really catches our breath and stings the eyes, so each time we chance putting it on, we have...
Hi there,
my Dad (who lives in Ireland) had a sky box installed years ago and cancelled a month ago as it was getting too pricey. Dad wants to connect a free view box now but the fascia plate on the wall is for sky aerial connection only (in Ireland when you cancel sky most of the channels on...
Hi Guys, after much grumbling, the tiler completed the job, took him just over an hour.
We'll clean and reseal the whole floor, but the grout is dry now (not above) and its as if they were always there!
Thanks for all of your advice.
Hi there,
Tray was fitted before wall tiles, so tiles do come down onto the rim.
The trap has been connected underneath.
If I take up tray now the wall tiles that have been done may be damaged.
I'll keep you posted on the outcome.
Thanks for the pointers.
In answer to all your advice:
The tray us already glued down- at the time the guy from the bathroom shop said "the tiler will be able to sort out that gap no problem"
The tray is a 900 quad.
I'm paying the bathroom shop, the tiler works for them but is self employed and is their only tiler so I...
