Wrong number of wires in my ceiling light?

Oh - yes I do! Let me guess... check the wires with the switch on and off to work out which is which? :-)

Wrong number of wires in my ceiling light?

Not that I can work out. It just goes up into the ceiling with the others.

Wrong number of wires in my ceiling light?

OK - that makes sense. Sadly nothing is sleeved in anything. I hooked up the new lamp the way the old one was and it doesn't work. So, I'm guessing I put the two reds in the loop blocks, but how do I work out which of the blacks go where? Or am I safe to just reverse what I've done and hope...

Wrong number of wires in my ceiling light?

I'm changing the light fitting in a room (with a single switch), and the way it seemed to have been wired was that one black wire went to the live in the lamp, and the other went to the neutral, while the two red wires were taped together. Not only does this seem to be one red wire short...

    adding an additional ceiling light

*nevermind* It works the way I thought. Just a loose wire making it not work. I knew it couldn't be as complicated as I'd feared! This has been asked quite a few times, but for some reason I'm just not understanding any of the answers so I'm hoping asking again will get yet another answer...

Mechanical fixings for dot and dab

I'm using dot and dab to hang plasterboard that will have tiles affixed so have seen advice to also screw through the adhesive dots as well, but what is never mentioned is whether you put the screws in while the adhesive is wet or after it dries! What do you say?

    Shower enclosure backing advice

Oh no. It's hard - like proper concrete. It would be a complete nightmare to take down, I expect, which is why I'm pretty well stuck with the pathetically small size of it!

    Shower enclosure backing advice

Hmm, hard to say. They don't have the curvy pattern in them like the photos online, but the material looks the same - colour and texture.

    Shower enclosure backing advice

Hmm, not really sure. I'm going to take a wild guess and say the shower enclosure was built about 20+ years ago. They're not the sort with a hole in the middle, if that helps. Yeah, that's pretty much why I like them. ;-) I've actually got them brickweave in the kitchen as well - including...

    Shower enclosure backing advice

I had done the tiling previously (about 8 years ago), but was given bad advice and had fixed them to plywood. The shower tray was also cheap and badly seated so the sealant around the tray failed frequently, causing the ply to wick up the water and rot and then proceed to rot the floorboards...

    Shower enclosure backing advice

Hi all, I'm retiling an existing shower enclosure in a Victorian Terrace which is brick on one side and concrete blocks on the other two. My hope was to install some sort of backing board on all three walls (or at least on the the brick wall) and then tank before tiling, however all the...
