    Best oil for outdoor table?

I'm planning on making an outdoor table out of a cable drum. What is the best oil to use to protect against the weather? Ideally I'd like something like Osmo polyx oil - I've used that for a table inside and I like the finish. Any suggestions?

    Chimney liner for gas Aga

So I had a survey done and will be going ahead with an Aga running on LPG. I'm now looking for a 5" gas flue liner but have found a twin skin 316 grade steel liner which is cheaper than the single skin recommended for gas. I presume this is fine to use instead of the single skin liner...

    Chimney liner for gas Aga

I've just had the fireplace in my kitchen opened up and the plan is to put a gas (LPG) Aga in. If the aga plan doesn't come to fruition, plan B is to install some kind of wood/coal stove. I know the chimney needs lined and I will have scaffolding up in a couple of weeks for a different reason...

    Electric underfloor heating then tiles

I'm pulling up all the tiles in my kitchen and want to put down electric ufh then slate tiles on top. I have a suspended wooden floor with ply on the top of the boards. I've been trying to read up about it and the advice seems to be to use 12mm ply on top of the boards. The ply that is...

New insert stove - on top of floorboards?

Thanks very much for all the info. I won't be doing anything before speaking to the installers, it was really just to have an idea myself of what would be required. Heat-wise, I think I should be ok as the stove is going to be raised up and I will lay a hearth underneath too. It was more...

    Blocking cavity walls?

I've inspected the whole building and have blocked every hole I can find but somehow the little sods are still getting in! I don't think its up the cavity they are coming in, but was going to block it in case. I'm going to get the cavities filled anyway so guess that bit doesn't matter. Is it...

New insert stove - on top of floorboards?

Sorry, I should have included in the post... I'm definitely not doing the install myself, think its above my capabilities! I was just going to do the interior cosmetic stuff myself and get a hetas guy to do the actual install! Thanks though, will have a read of the info.

    Blocking cavity walls?

I recently moved into a new house and have rats in my loft  I was thinking I could go into the loft and block up the whole perimeter where the eves meet the wall, and block up all the open cavity. Is there any problem in doing this? I just wasn't sure if there might be any ventilation...

New insert stove - on top of floorboards?

Hi, just after some advice? I'm installing a new inset stove but don't have any kind of chimney/flue in place so basically starting from scratch. My floor isn't concrete, its wooden boards with space underneath. What I'm wondering is whether or not it is possible to build the stove housing on...
