Best oil for outdoor table?

I'm planning on making an outdoor table out of a cable drum.

What is the best oil to use to protect against the weather? Ideally I'd like something like Osmo polyx oil - I've used that for a table inside and I like the finish.

Any suggestions?

Not the "Cuprinol Garden Furniture Oil" that I used for several coats on new Red Grandis only last July and noticed this weekend that the surface is rough and greying!
