Buy a boiler online and get gas engineer to install?

As I understand it, he becomes the supplier and has to add VAT on anything supplied materials and labour. Turtles alll the way down.

Buy a boiler online and get gas engineer to install?

Problem is, you started out asking help from the very same people you derided as ‘traders’. If you know everything why are you here?

Buy a boiler online and get gas engineer to install?

Love people like you. If you want to supply materials supply them all. No benefiting from my experience of what sundries are needed you can collect them while my labour charge meter keeps ticking away. You want full control of hot water and central heating flow temperatures, no problem. I know...

Glow-worm compact 100e hot water problem - please help!

If I'm right (I'm not always), there will be a scorch mark on the middle bottom of the PCB when the cover is removed.

Glow-worm compact 100e hot water problem - please help!

If the central heating flow pipe gets hot when running the hot water Ian is right if not you need a RGI as it is likely the pcb. You CANNOT change this yourself as various gas valve control settings need to be set up. Best advice is find someone who takes credit cards and fit a new one with...

    Is buteline really that bad?!

Another thing to remember is the ‘setting’ time. You need to keep the clamp shut for 10 seconds after clamping. The clamping force causes enough heat to fuse the pipe and fitting together, so needs to keep reassure while it fuses.

    What is a flue equaliser?

It might be an automatic variable flue damper or a buffer tank to maintain flue gas temperatures. Best to get a proper qualified man in. At worst chimney fires, at least back end rot of your boiler. Not diy.

    Is buteline really that bad?!

I have used it on a couple of installs and have had no problems. Every product is as good as the installer. The installation MUST pressure tested to 6 Bar or twice the operating pressure.

    Vaillant boiler

Tully, you did not spout ill informed bias so no bile was meant for you. If you live in a small house a 430 is not for you. As a rule of thumb 1.2 kW per radiator is the boiler size you want, if a heat only boiler is what you need. Combis are normally 24, 30 or 35 kW for the DHW flow rate...

    Vaillant boiler

Vaillant have sold over a million EcoTecs and haven’t had to change a million heat exchangers. As an ex Group Service engineer, I’ve seen more of these boilers than you’ve had sock shuffles ( I guess it’s close though) and it’s one of the best built, most copied and most reliable out there. Your...

    Vaillant boiler

As I guessed bad installation, your boiler is correctly sized (maybe slightly undersized) for your system and should have worked fine with 22mm pipes and definitely no LLH. Microbore or a restrictive system could be helped by CSTs But despite fitting their boiler on a dirty system a £350 part...

    Vaillant boiler

You said it's never run without kettling, did it arrive full of crud? Just for fun how many radiators do you have and what Vaillant boiler was thrown in?

    Vaillant boiler

I have no experience with the Intergas brand, but they seem to have a very loyal following. Other than their cosmetic appearance I won't criticise them. As for the plastic in Vaillants, they used to say that was the difference between them and Glow-worm. They used to flaunt it as a badge of...

    Vaillant boiler

Your system is at fault not the boiler, CSTs or a low loss header would sort it out. And as for blockages, was the system cleaned? You go on to mention a rental property........aaaaahhhh another penny pinching landlord going for the cheapest price and bemoaning the quality received.

Are you a new(ish) Baxi customer?

Absolute garbage from Ben as usual. A faulty boiler that still functions i.e. cosmetic damage or noises is low priority. Approved installers guaranteed next day and sometimes same day. PLUS I know the rep in your area (Steve) he would move heaven and earth to get you going. Has a situation where...

    Vaillant anti-cycle time question

A separate pump per zone is my choice as it allows pump speeds to be set as required to each one, fixed to the cylinder and variable to the heating zones. Your system flow temp is not altered by the load the return is, unless you have a variable temperature zone downstream of the LLH. The LLH is...
