What is a flue equaliser?

hello everyone,

I just recently started a research on flue systems with respect to biomass stoves and the term 'flue equalizer' keeps getting me kind of confused as to what it really means. I have read on open and closed (balanced) flue systems but no document has really mentioned a thing on "flue equalizer". Knowing that the balanced flue system kind of creates a pressure balance within the stove, is it safe to say it is also a flue equalizer system?

It might be an automatic variable flue damper or a buffer tank to maintain flue gas temperatures. Best to get a proper qualified man in. At worst chimney fires, at least back end rot of your boiler.
