    Shower Units

Just a wet cloth and a dry towel to get the watermarks off - certainly no bathroom cleaners. I have sent for some so called waterproof adhesive letters which might be worth a try. I wish I could buy a replacement front cover, but not possible. Incidentally, although all the control lettering...

    Shower Units

We have a Triton shower unit above the bath and over the course of two years, in wiping the front of the unit after use, all the lettering of the controls has vanished. Is there anything on the market we could put back the control lettering, maybe like adhesive letters which are waterproof? I...

    Feature Wall

As we are on the subject of paint, I did some touchups from this two thirds full can of Crown Period Paint and on heavily replacing the cap, the bottom of the can buckled and split and a huge dollop of paint landed on my kitchen mat before I had the presence of mind to turn the gash upwards...

    Feature Wall

Well I didn't know that and will certainly give it a try. Dark green is a dreadful colour to have to wash out each roller use on a job. Many thanks.

    Feature Wall

Many thanks, I see what you mean about overlap. I can do it in three goes I think and will map these carefully so as not to overlap if possible. I intend to use a paintbrush because I know if I use a roller I make more mess and go on too long and far because I don't want to wash it out - a job...

    Feature Wall

I am planning to paint a feature wall with Period Flat Matt Paint which is a dark green. It is a complicated wall involving a high narrow window and also a pale marble fireplace. I am no spring chicken and plan to paint with a paint brush at my own pace, which would involve doing different...

    Shower Head Problem

We want the shower head to come out further over the bath. Our present Mira electric shower head is close to the wall, so we bought an extension arm, but although this does work to some extent, it makes the head droop down under its own weight. We have put a piece of insulation tape to hold it...

    Telescopic Loft Ladder Youngman 2.6

Thanks for replying. Yes it is supposed to be a threaded hole, but it isn't! Have you fitted one of these ladders? No one even at Youngmans knows how to do this. Sounds to me as if something should be staying in place and not dropping down but of course it is all internal and we can't find a...

    Telescopic Loft Ladder Youngman 2.6

Many thanks but what happened twice to me is that, on unpacking and removing the bolts to take off the swivel arms prior to installation, the nut (or whatever the bolt screws into) below fell inside the ladder and was irretrievable. Therefore there was nothing to screw back into for the bolts.....

    Telescopic Loft Ladder Youngman 2.6

Prior to having a go at installation, I can't figure out how you can remove the two bolts which hold the swivel arms, without the nut below falling into the ladder. Has anyone else fitted one of these? Youngman instructions are notoriously obscure and even their videos don't show any prior...

    Resin Leak

Finished a softwood chalet type shed in the garden last year and put Sadolin Decorative finish. Looks great. However, we have now got a large area which is weeping white resin and we have scraped this off many times, only for it to reappear. Is there anything we can use to prevent this, ie a...

    Two-way Alarm

Thank you so much for your research on our behalf. We will investigate the options you suggest and definitely choose one of them. We appreciate your time spent on this.

    Two-way Alarm

Basically, we are sleeping in two separate adjoining bedrooms, both opening into the hallway. We both have heart problems and it is my fear that if either of us awoke in difficulty and was unable to get out of bed to summon help, then there should be some way of waking the other with an alarm...

    Two-way Alarm

As my husband is a bit deaf anyway, then I think a loud alarm would be advisable. Thanks for replying.

    Two-way Alarm

We need a two-way alarm system for use in separate bedrooms to communicate or raise an alarm in the event of a night time medical emergency. We previously bought a battery operated door type, but this proved unreliable as the batteries went down unnoticed, and often failed to respond when...

    Mesh Tap Filters

Many thanks - I didn't know that. There is more or less no splashing without the filter (aerator) so I shall leave it off. No more waiting for the sink to fill, ie wandering off to do something else and forgetting and losing all the hot water.....

    Mesh Tap Filters

I understand that filters should be cleaned, but is it necessary to use the filter at all if the water is not for drinking. The tap operates better without it.

    Mesh Tap Filters

Having put up for ages with a trickle from the kitchen hot water tap - the cold was better from the same tap, I had the long overdue idea of checking the tap filter. On unscrewing this, it was full up with scale and bits. The hot water ran freely without it. Do I have to replace the filter (I...
