Difference between Floor and Wall tile adhesive? Can I use floor for wall?

Many thanks for the response ree...its touch and go...I may have enough without having to use the floor adhesive. Interesting that when I bought the wall adhesive, the tile shop (Altwood Tiles Maidenhead) said of the Weber.fix WR ... "this is what the pros use" !! I understand what you say...

Just wondering if any problem in using the floor tile adhesive on the walls? - actually...

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but just had a PM from someone enquiring about whether I got a replacement Tantofex ceramic cartridge so I thought I'd just add the happy ending. (back in 2008!!!) The advice re ring spanner was excellent and I finally manged to remove the cartridge...

Should I leave open top of cavity when laying insulation?

Thanks Frank...you just saved me from a big mistake...that'll teach me to skip raid  I'd got as far as one panel pushed right up to the T&G....and clearly thats a NoNo. Actually it will be a bit of a pain dropping it down to ceiling plasterboard level and it will be real messy...

Downlights - to Earth or not to Earth?

Thanks all for the advice and guidance. I guess if the regs say so, then so be it, I'll put in a redundant CPC with heatproof 3 core 1mm flex. Ban...Its a WC, but I've thought about it. I'll put a long delay on and its light sensitive/adjustable. There's a separate Autenco for the fan so...

Downlights - to Earth or not to Earth?

Sorry to come back on this, but am wondering why I should even use 1.5 or 1.0 mm T&E if the earth/cpc is not used. The supply will come off a double pole isolating switch to the Autenco PIR. which has no earth connector, just three connection points Live and neutral in and switched live out with...

Should I leave open top of cavity when laying insulation?

We have a single story "protrusion" from our 1976 house...(can't really call it an extension) for the front door lobby and downstairs toilet/cloakroom. I've pulled down the plasterboard ceiling to do some wiring and anyway it had nasty stippled artex so the replacement platerboard ceiling will...

Downlights - to Earth or not to Earth?

thanks folks, thats very clear. I'll just terminate the CPC in the connector block, using it for loop through on the intermediate lights. I'm still puzzled how a fitting with metal casing can be safe without a connection to CPC...I thought that was why we had CPC! Would it actually be...

Downlights - to Earth or not to Earth?

Ok, I know some of you are not fond of downlights, but the OH has spoken. So I picked up a couple from TLC - GUFRD50 with halogen bulbs). http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Technical/DataSheets/JCC/GUFRD50.pdf Its a cloakroom so not too worried about efficiency, but maybe someday I'll replace with...

Artex cloakroom ceiling - plaster over or plasterboard?

As part of a refurb of our cloakroom I need to tackle the ceiling. (and btw most grateful to the folks on the plumbling thread who are helping me through that aspect). Its a small area 2m x 1.1m, Artexed (1976 so might have nasties) and with quite a few screw holes and bits where pelmets...

Drained down C H, refilled but boiler trips and pump grinds

A million thanks Seco!!! (seems I can only do one thankyou on DIYnot). I fought my way to the two remaining rads that I hadn't been able to bleed yesterday, bled them, re-bled all the others (actually no more air in them) and then did as you suggested with the pump. It squirted black water at...

Drained down C H, refilled but boiler trips and pump grinds

Many thanks seco, will try that in the morning. Not sure what CBF meant??? Would the pump failing to operate properly cause the boiler to trip? Off to bed now will let yorl know how i get on tomorrow.

Drained down C H, refilled but boiler trips and pump grinds

In the middle of a bit of a DIY disaster and will probably have to call in the professionals tomorrow. I needed to remove a radiator as part of the downstairs cloakroom refurb project (I posted a while back about burying pipes - many thanks for replies) - Its 8mm microbore with a seized...

1970's cloakroom refurb - would like to bury H&C pipes.

Hi, just started a refurb of our 1970's downstairs cloakroom (anybody want an Avacado basin and the top bit of an avocado loo - had to smash the bottom! I'm in Maidenhead if anybody interested). Traced the H&C supply up into the space between ceiling and upstairs bedroom...successfully fitted...
