Looking for a certain wallpaper border

Hi, a number of years ago I bought a border from Homebase. Chances are I won't find it on sale anywhere else now. Here's what it looks like: Just on the off chance, has anyone seen this border for sale elsewhere and knows where I could get it from (I know a long shot!). Could anyone...

    Repairing fences in wet soil

Hi, In the recent storms, my garden has taken a bit of a battering. My wooden fences along a side of my garden are all leaning towards the ground with one panel completely pulled down and split away from the posts. I have checked the posts, and they don't appear to have snapped in two...

Attic Central Heating Expansion Tank Overflowing

Thanks for advice so far. I have had a quote from a local plumber and he's quoted me £750 to drain the system and replace the immersion cylinder. My boiler is quite old and noisy with primitive controls, would it be worth considering just replacing the boiler with a combi-boiler and doing...

    Turning off my radiators

Any ideas on where my Summer valve could be. I have looked throughout the airing cupboard, but cannot find anything labelled as such. Many thanks.

    Turning off my radiators

So I have a thermostat in the living area, which turns the boiler on when the temperature is below the setting. The control dial for the heating allows for placing markers on the wheel for on/off times, and a switch for having the system off/timed/constant. There is no way to set just heating...

    Turning off my radiators

Hi, I have an old style boiler that only lets me have my hot water and heating on together, and not either or in isolation. In the Summer months, I'd like hot water but no need for the radiators to heat up. I figured the best way to achieve this is to turn off each radiator around my flat...

Attic Central Heating Expansion Tank Overflowing

Both tanks sit level on the same boarding, but as the cold water tank is much bigger, the water is higher in the cold water tank.

Attic Central Heating Expansion Tank Overflowing

Thanks for advice so far. So I got my float valve replaced by a plumber (wasn't completely sure myself so safer to get some help). After a few days of no drips, the overflow pipe has now started dripping again, with the tank back up to the level shown in the picture I uploaded. I guess...

Attic Central Heating Expansion Tank Overflowing

The water I removed from the tank seemed to top itself up again and the overflow started dripping again. As reccomended to me I will change the part 2 float valve. I guess this is something I can get from a chain DIY store? Do I just turn off the water to the tank, drain enough water out of...

Attic Central Heating Expansion Tank Overflowing

Is the existing valve a part 2? Looking online, I guess the existing orange float just gets screwed on the end of the new valve. With regards to the overflow pipe being too high, certainly agree. But how would I fix this unless I replace the whole cistern?

Attic Central Heating Expansion Tank Overflowing

I've taken out some water, and the drop in water level did not open the valve to refill the tank. The dripping has stopped. So far so good.....

I took a picture of the tank: [/img]

Attic Central Heating Expansion Tank Overflowing

What would happen if I removed a litre of water to slightly lower the water height? Or would the tank just refill to the original height again?[/img]

Attic Central Heating Expansion Tank Overflowing

Okay I've been up into the loft. The heating expansion tank was full just to the point where a tiny bit of water was covering the opening of the outlet pipe. I tried lifting the arm as PlumbGas advised. I tried lifting the arm slightly, but it did not have any movement give in it. It was...

Attic Central Heating Expansion Tank Overflowing

So lifting the arm slightly will cease any more water entering the tank?

Attic Central Heating Expansion Tank Overflowing

Hi, I have a first floor flat with gas central heating. There is a boiler in the kitchen, a hot water emersion cylinder in the cupboard. In the attic are two water storage tanks, a large one for cold water and a smaller one which I believe is a central heating expansion tank. Each of the...

Plug socket sparking when I power on

Yes it is in a dark corner of the room. A TV/freeview box/hair dryer are plugged into the extension lead. The TV turns itself ON when I press the On switch on the plug socket, perhpas that is the load causing the spark.
