    Silverline Tools?

Thanks for the comment,I've plenty of work to do on my cars so retirement is more a diversion of effort. I still have, and use some tools I bought during my apprenticeship,King Dick,Elora,Britool (the proper Britool not the new imported version) and Gedore. I doubt much of the Silverline stuff...

    Silverline Tools?

Ive now stopped selling anything from Silverline other than the BSW spanners. I did get a few sheets of wet and dry the other week,a big mistake, scratched the car paint to bits. The 1200 grade is like emery paper and the whole lot has now gone in the bin. To be fair the biggest return issue I...

    Compressor & Impact Wrench questions

That really sounds as though the gun itself is faulty. They should work the same in forward as reverse,no matter what pressure or volume of air is being supplied.

Looking for a non-standard socket wrench bit

Next time you need a weird socket or spanner try these conversion charts. http://www.baconsdozen.co.uk/tools/conversion%20charts.htm They show all the standards (BSW,BSF,AF and BA) which are then shown with their metric equivalents.

    Petrol in a Diesel Engine

I added three gallons of diesel to my petrol BMW some years back. I had to be somewhere a long way off urgently and so just filled the tank to the brim with petrol and drove off hoping for the best. Apart from laying a very impressive smoke trail (easing off every time I saw a cop car) it got...

Anyone who buys power tools by Silverline needs his bumps felt.

    Silverline Tools?

They will do nothing while they can still sell this junk because Joe public buys rubbish and just moans to his mate down the pub when it falls to bits.

    Silverline Tools?

I've had no problem with their hand tools, sockets and the like but any of the electrical stuff is a disaster. The problem is that these days people tend to buy on price, the lower the better. As a result we are flooded with cheap,Chinese junk. I still use tools that I bought years (too many) ago...

    Whats in a battery booster?

If you mean those little 'booster' packs with a couple of jump leads sticking out you might as well buy a set of jump leads and a battery from a scrap yard that holds a charge and keep it topped up. The cheapo boosters are junk, just a diddy battery that has no chance of starting a car if its...

MOT failure due to brake lines

I knew a guy who 'repaired' cars for a living in a back street garage sort of way. One day I went to see him and he was busy under a car with an angle grinder. Believe it or not he was grinding the brake pipes as they were rusty and when finished he was daubing them with grease. I can't see...

Any Air rifle shooters in here

I got the rifle down from the loft, its been so long that I looked at it that I'd forgotten its a type 50 not 35B. Its a underlever .22 and has a telescopic sight. I also have a BSA Airsporter but I'm keeping that and selling the Original.

    Anyone drive a weird car?

I had one of the six cylinder P4s (I think it was a 90) a long, long time ago. Remembered for a old fashioned whine as you drove off as much as anything else, also its umbrella handbrake on the right hand side. I'd always wanted a P5 after owning a six cylinder version thirty years ago but that...

Any Air rifle shooters in here

I still have two air rifles from a long time ago,a BSA airsporter and a Original 35b. I haven't used them in years but am reluctant to sell them. Are they worth anything these days?.

    Anyone drive a weird car?

Just wondered if anyone else on here has any car thats 'out of the ordinary' I use a ex london taxicab as my run around but also have a Mk1 transit and a Rover P5b in the 'fleet'. Does anyone else have a odd taste in cars?.

    Silverline Tools?

I used a silverline sander today and it lasted ten minutes before it actually caught fire. The crappy switch simply melting,it joined the equally useless angle grinder in the bin. The power tools they sell are simply chinese crap or should that be cLap.

    Silverline Tools?

Sorry to hear that, but it does tend to confirm what people have been saying about the poor quality of the tools they sell. Not all stuff from the far east is junk though.I sell sockets from Koken and the quality of them is very good.the Japanese do turn out some very good tools these days. I...

    Silverline Tools?

I sell tools for a living, the only stuff of theirs I've found that are of any use are the whitworth spanners (I sell imperial tools) which are DIY use only (and identical to the Kamasa ones) and the oil sprayers. I bought some power tools and sent them all back likewise compression testers and...
