I agree with crazydaze, Parquet is generally solid so the guidelines with the DPM he mentioned are essential. Some manafactuers are now bringing out Engineered Parquet Clic flooring than can be installed on underlay so very simple and easy for yourself.

As recommended by crazy-daze defiantly no floating floor on solid wood unless manufacturer will guarantee (which is vary rare). Engineered or multiply is the best way especially with the size of the room these boards will be more stable. I would go with the door bar just as a safety measure.

Any concrete floors I would recommend a Liquid damp proof membrane, as you will find with any concrete floor will naturally have moisture sitting in it which will cause big problems in the future. Good Luck

It will not cause an issue with the DPM underlay on wooden subfloors. If you feel it may you will be able to find foam or rubber products that are the same thickness that offer both options with and without the DPM

You can find foam underlays with a built in DPM sheet attached, it is the best way t go across the whole floor as you do not want height variations from one area to the other

I would recommend a beading due to leaving the full expansion gap, I feel it would look a lot neater.
