can someone help to identify this?

Problem resolved. The pump impellers were full of gunk, plus the pipes around clogged. All cleaned and the CH works beautifuly, rads too hot to hold! Thanks for all your replies and suggestions.

can someone help to identify this?

Does it mean I need it? Can I cut it out and just leave with a junction? I am not a plumber and would not be able to solder the pipes. However, I would be able to use compression elbows and junction.

can someone help to identify this?

There are two pipes that join up 30cm further up. One of them I believe is from the tank. The problem is that I think its clogged and there is no flow through the system. The magnet sticks to it.

    weak flow in the system

Many thanks for your reply oldbuffer! 1. I have not done this, but will check and see. First close the valves, then unscrew the release screw to see if there are any leaks and only then proceed with opening the pump. 2. Filter installed with x400 and is trapping dirt, however it is too...

Worcester 28cdi - heating demand ON - flame keeps turning of

Try to turn the room thermostat and HW off and see if the pump and boiler continue indefinitely. That will mean that the valve is locked and is requesting the boiler to heat the HW cylinder. If the do stop, then it may not be the motorised valve.

    weak flow in the system

The system has not been changed and not sure why would balancing help? Also, it takes couple of hous for hot water to get to the last radiator even if all others are closed.

    weak flow in the system

We have a conventional system with 10 radiators (30+ years old, the boiler is 4 years old). The radiators are not getting hot water, although they are all bled. When all radiators are open, it takes couple of hours for the first couple get hot, next two get worm, then next two luke...

No heating on the ground floor

Problem resolved at 02.00 am! After switching off the whole system at 00.30, an hour later I realised that pump and the boiler are still on. The culprit was the motorised valve, it did not close and the boiler was sending the hot water to the hw cylinder not radiators. After manually closing...

No heating on the ground floor

Thanks JohnD, I would not be able to do it myself. What do you think this whole job could cost?

No heating on the ground floor

First floor - 4 radiators + 2 towel rail radiators (which do heat up if open) Ground floor - 5 radiators (4 get lukewarm if the above are shut, the furtherest one is cold) Earlier I closed all apart the last one. Then it did warm up, othervise is stone cold.
