Confusion changing 2 gang 2 way lightswitch

Hi, Apologies for any confusion here. So I swapped the kitchen and hall wires over. Kitchen on left, hall on right. Hall now works correctly, kitchen doesn't. Although kitchen did before I swapped. Sorry Bernard, clearer photo below. Does this suggest the left hand "2" is knackered? Si

Confusion changing 2 gang 2 way lightswitch

Right, This is a fun game :) As you suggested EFLimpudence, swapped left switch for right and the hall works correctly. Kitchen doesn't work at all now :(. For the kitchen should it be COM and 2 or COM and 1 (as it only has the one switch)? Si

Confusion changing 2 gang 2 way lightswitch

Hi, Thanks, yup that looks fine. Presume yellow and blue are the right way round as per Bernard's diagram. Reason I ask is on the other switch they are the other way round (far right of photo)

Confusion changing 2 gang 2 way lightswitch

Hi Bernard, Thanks, drawn like that makes it easy to follow. Just tested. Kitchen works fine however strange things happening with the hall lights. Used to be able to turn the hall light on/off from either set of switches (these by kitchen and others by front door). Now if I turn them on...

Confusion changing 2 gang 2 way lightswitch

Hi, I have a 2 gang 2 way switch outside the kitchen that I'd like to replace. This switch works the kitchen ceiling lights and the hallway light (the hallway light also has another switch by front door so both can turn hall lights on/off). Can anyone please advise what's supposed to go where...

Problems with flushing cistern since replacing arm

@Burnerman. That seems to be the case. So the blue rod is 140mm from the right internal edge of the cistern. So to position that right I'm looking for a 140mm (internal to cistern) handle/bar - as reference that would be a 193mm (not 173mm) total length based on the one from Wickes. I'm...

Problems with flushing cistern since replacing arm

@Madrab I'm with you now. Right it's in the top of the loop and so far ( half a dozen flushes) it flushes fine each time. Only thing left to resolve is to get the handle/blue rod to reset after the flush to the correct position. It's almost as if there is friction somewhere preventing this. Is...

Problems with flushing cistern since replacing arm

@Madrab. That looks very similar to the one I picked up: http://www.wickes.co.uk/Cistern-Lever-Chrome/p/216980 Sadly the '173mm' is the total length of handle and bar and is 20mm short of being over the pin. The search continues, but thanks for the suggestion of trying a shorter C-hook...

Problems with flushing cistern since replacing arm

John, Thanks, do you or anyone out there know where supplies 140mm arms (that's the measurement from the inside edge of the cistern to the blue post, including fixing). At the time I tried both Wickes and B&Q and this was the longest they carried Regards.

Problems with flushing cistern since replacing arm

Hi folks, A few months back the rod the arm's attached to snapped and I replaced with the closest length I could find to the original. However, I'm now finding the arm doesn't return to it's correct position after a flush (e.g. the handle is still down) which means the flush mechanism isn't...

    Repair or replace boiler quandry

Razor, Do they do installs directly? I'm looking on their site for somone to come give a quote to remove old and install new, possibly relocated from bathroom to kitchen (playing with the idea) but I can't seem to locate that. I can find the merchant locator, but is that the same thing or are...

    Repair or replace boiler quandry

From reading up a few dozen reviews and comments on intergas it does seem to polarise people, both customers and installers. It seems when it goes wrong Intergas can be troublesome to contact/respond or accept responsibility, and the reliability of some of their parts appears far from that...

    Repair or replace boiler quandry

Just been looking at the intercool site. Whats the difference between the ECO RF's and HRE's. They look incredebly similar in spec and with the ECO RF's having a longer warranty why would anyone choose the HRE? where's the catch? Unless it's the £200 price list difference?

    Repair or replace boiler quandry

Folks, I've not heard of ATAG or Intergas. I've heard of WB, Vaillant, boxi (admittedly I know nothing and those three are the more well known brands). I don't mind upping my budget and paying good money for a good boiler, provided: *It's correct and appropriate for my home *It's efficient &...
