    power for bell over cat5?

because they hadn't got the 12vdc version listed and I hadn't found stock of it or equivalant anywhere at the time. Figured the description was clear enough for most people  I've opted for 24vdc in the end to be safe on the cat5 and volt drop stuff. I've rejigged it slightly to...

I've just realised there is a spare telephone bell up there, wonder if I might be able to use that somehow?

    power for bell over cat5?

great thanks. I assume a 12v bell should be ok at 11.6V? Woudl there be a benefit going for the 24vdc option instead? obviously with a 24vdc transformer. Also is there a preffered way to wire it? a pair for (+) and a pair for (-), or solid colour (+) and white/col (-) or does it really not...

    power for bell over cat5?

Hi, not sure if this is more of an electricians question or not. I need to connect a loud bell to a gate entry system. I have timed relay switched contacts (volt free) available on the entry system. i'm looking at the 12v dc version of this and using a bog standard 12v plugin...

    Oil feed service tap/valve

Hi, can someone point me in the direction of a suitable tap/valve for 10mm oil feed to my boiler. Its to go at the boiler end rather than tank end if it makes any odds. I can find plenty that are Gas/Water rated, but none that are oil. many thanks

Budget CCTV £600ish IP or analouge, DVR or PC?

oh, and by the way, DVR cards, run by much the same rules as the stand alone units. Cheap ones are just that, good ones are not available for £100, so the cost and hassle end up more than a stand alone DVR, in my humble opinion.

Budget CCTV £600ish IP or analouge, DVR or PC?

I've spent alot of time researching DVR's in recent weeks, and the only conclusion i've come to is its a MINEFIELD! As are the camera's. Avoid ebay, you have little or no come back. end of. Now whilst there is a benefit (as per my original post) to speaking to reputable resellers and...

Budget CCTV £600ish IP or analouge, DVR or PC?

IP stuff is pricey (SOOOooooo behind the times!!!) I've been playing with a £200avtech unit, with a 500gb hard drive added. It does just about everything, but i've quickly found its limitations, particularly now its running its max 8cameras. playback/search is slow/freezes regularly, record...

best 16ch DVR min 2Tb for under 850+VAT

Having checked through the Samsung spec sheets I think the 1650DC will be the better option, giving a better frame rate, expansion and PTX coaxitron. I'm thinking 2tb initially, with scope for plenty of expansion. your thoughts? any better alternatives around the £850+VAT price range?

best 16ch DVR min 2Tb for under 850+VAT

I've been recommended the Samsung SLD1652. I've no problem with the price, but does anyone have any better recommendations in the same sort of price range? Remote viewing/playback is a high priority on this site as it's often empty, and is a prime target for a our travelling freinds to...

CCTV on farm barn/ grain store

thanks for that. Yes, I'm aware of the domes dulling. I replaced some on some cameras that were already up at another site, and was really impressed with the images, even on a real cheapy dvr that I bought just to play with initially. I don't suppose anyone knows anywhere that has these with...

CCTV on farm barn/ grain store

Hi thanks for the advice, but all cameras and cabling will be external of the grainstore. DVR etc will be in a seperate building across the access road.

CCTV on farm barn/ grain store

DVR - I'm looking at the viola m8 DVR with 2Tb drive. I had a play with the 4ch version and it seems very intuitive, and has all the remote access capability required for a relatively low budget unit. I've tried some AVtech stuff, and found the interface etc awful. Open to alternative...

    removing a rad permanently

great thanks. I can reach back to about 4ft from the T-off, but getting at the rest will mean lifting the floor so would prefer to do this at a later date. Will add it to my "do it one day" list to remove the remainder of the dead pipe work!

    removing a rad permanently

Do I need to blank the 15mm flow/return pipes all the way back where they t-off the main 22mm F/R, or can I leave them more or less in situ and just blank them off? My thinking was I'm creating an airlock by leaving them in place. many thanks
