    uPVC door latch getting stuck

We have a uPVC front door, fitted a few years ago. It has a "Yale Mantis" lock (according to what's written on the side of the door anyway!). In the last few days, the latch has been getting stuck in the door when the handle is fully pushed down - and the only way to free it is to push the latch...

Water under newly laid slabs, after bodge to fix bodge

This probably belongs in the "DIY Disasters" forum ... Backstory: about 5 years ago, we employed a bunch of highly-recommended professionals to turn a raised bed into a meter-high patio enclosed with sleepers. The job looked lovely for the first year, until the sleepers started to sag (not...

Shower not heating up - could it be a boiler fault?

Just to follow up on this, in case anyone has a similar issue: the problem was the boiler after all. We had an engineer out today, arranged via our boiler cover with the excellent YourRepair. He cleaned out the boiler (which, despite regular services, needed a lot of soot and general cruft...

Shower not heating up - could it be a boiler fault?

Well just to add this into the mix (no pun intended): - Bathroom hot tap when shower is switched off: water is very hot - Bathroom hot tap when shower is switched on (and turned up to "hot"): water is lukewarm, as warm as the shower gets Not sure if that helps, or changes anything?

Shower not heating up - could it be a boiler fault?

Yes - hot tap is fine (but, as per that video I linked to, the chap suggests that might not be relevant). It's a combi boiler - so turning on a hot tap/shower causes the boiler to fire up and (in theory) give us hot water.

Shower not heating up - could it be a boiler fault?

We have an upstairs shower that has suddenly decided that hot water isn't it's thing. The water doesn't get beyond lukewarm at best - the temperature doesn't vary much; it gets slightly warmer after it's been ran for a few minutes both nothing like the piping hot water we used to get even a...

    Removing rollers from shower door

The nut itself is metal, and the round shiny bit seems to metal or very hard plastic - it's a bit difficult to tell. I've tried to prise it off in case it's a cover of some kind, but there's no obvious way to remove it. That's the first place I'm going as soon as I can get the old ones...

    Removing rollers from shower door

We had a new shower enclosure fitted just over 4 years ago. In that time, the rubber on most of the wheels has perished, meaning the shower door now makes a horrendous scraping noise when opening and closing, which isn't doing either the enclosure or my ears any good. I'd therefore like to...
