I take the silence as no good ideas for resolving the problem and make my way to JL.

Whirlpool AWO/D 5516 washer behavioural problem

Dear all, I have asked two questions related to the same appliance twice regarding draining and error codes. Thanks for all the answers there! However the washer behaves in an odd way and I suspect it could be to do with control unit (hopefully not!). Choosing 30C synthetics (most...

    Whirpool AW0/D 5516 - Clean Pump and F.13 errors

A visit to local car wash with removed hoses revealed a could of years worth of gunk from those. So the second issue was nearly resolved. However need to take care when committing to any such activity as pressure wash can rip the hose apart or cause damage to its inner walls. I've ordered a...

    Whirpool AW0/D 5516 - Clean Pump and F.13 errors

Hi Carl, No problems with opening the door as far as I could tell. When F.13 message is displayed and I turn the washer off, it takes about 3-4 minutes for the door to unlock. Is there a sensor that regulates this? Thanks!

    Whirpool AW0/D 5516 - Clean Pump and F.13 errors

Hello there! Aforementioned Whirpool washing machine is occasionally coming to a halt with F.13 error message. t usually happens on the last minute (that takes far longer than _a_ minute!) and fix has been to switch the thing off. Next time all is good again. Can anybody suggest a...

Best place to buy a desktop

Off-topic, but hearing is 18/20 and 20/20. In case of Dell/HP I usually suggest higher end business/corporate grade machines that have no fancy looks, but do perform well. And are quiet enough for the open office environment. To answer the initial question, I'd look at deals/offers on quidco...

which laptop acer aspire v3-571g or an apple

Hi Gavin, Depends on whether you have used Windows or Mac in the past and whatever you feel more comfortable with. Many prefer Macbooks because they have always used Macs and don't want to let go of the notion as if Macs would be somehow superior to Windows laptops. As noted above, major...

Best place to buy a desktop

@Monkeh, that's OK all of us have different preferences and not all of us want or are fit to build their own computers. The question was for a basic PC. I prefer quiet machine. If you happen to run a local PC shop, please don't take this as an insult, many of them however do offer overpriced and...

Best place to buy a desktop

Sticking to "white PC makers" like Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc. and avoiding local PC shop will pretty much grant you silent machine that has been designed with cooling in mind. Also, when buying from the likes of John Lewis you can get 2 years warranty by default. Many things go wrong as new or after...

Whirpool AW0/D 5516 drain hose question

Thanks @zipper! Found a youtube video where a bloke describes cleaning the discharge hose and the important bit for me is this screenshot. Also, how often these hoses should be cleaned / replaced?

Whirpool AW0/D 5516 drain hose question

Morning all, The end of the world as we know it may be near, but before that happens I need to fix my washing machine. I don't believe we'll get free appliance service tomorrow ;-) I was cleaning my washing machine after.. ahem.. couple of years of neglect and need to put the drain hose...

    XP still supported?

@JohnBoyII - you have alluded to two problems with newer hardware and Windows XP: frist incompatible drivers that cause sluggish performance and the second software that was written for XP and does not run under newer OS. There's still many around and running those apps in Windows XP mode under...

    AVG Free 2013

@Monkeh, No, not really. Neither do I believe AVG Free AV that is used 50/50 as protection and as advertising channel for the AVG paid product. All, however, depends on the user and their web activity.

    AVG Free 2013

One should not need additional AV for Win8 (according to Micro$oft) as the OS has Windows Defender that does firewall, AV and malware detection. Have taken AVG off my Win8 machine.

    windows 8

@EddieM, what PC did you try Win8? I've got one HP 6710b at home (used as TV replacement) that runs Win8 just fine (minus full mouse compatibility though...). Whenever I've done Vista > 7 upgrades, I've used User Migration Tool that boxes all your stuff up into one file, installed new OS...
