    Convert/decommission old to new Ring

Currently have (unused) wired alarm, have now fitted Ring alarm. However I haven’t fitted the external siren yet. Wondering what sort of cost would be to remove (if that’s necessary?), where the current old panel is, or at least use the wire from here (converting the fused spur to a plug...

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

Ah ok, can’t see myself still! So the only problem I have now is removing the front cover to access, the tamper, could still go off?

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

So where is the battery in this? Is there a small battery somewhere on it? So when set to EXT where is it using? The battery in the main panel?

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

That was when I had a problem with a tamper ages and ages ago, presume I unplugged in case went off.

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

From INT to EXT (pic was slightly cut off). What is this to do? Presume means internal and external - but what? So no battery inside the bell box and the backup battery must be in the main panel? and this runs both the main panel backup and the bell box backup? Thanks

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

Best pic can find. Can’t see any battery inside it? Could the battery from the main panel be used for it? The 2 white connectors, marked siren are where it has 2 sirens, that were unplugged at this time.

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

Thanks, more complicated than I thought! Glad I asked…. So removing the bell box cover, and typing in my normal code won’t stop the siren? As soon as I do this I can disconnect the cable and also the battery, that’s what I was hoping anyway. That’s (I’m presuming is) there is a battery in the...

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

This is info I need yes. I don’t want the alarm going off. So if I remove the cover on the siren, tamper will alert (unless I have that linked out?), or can I not just type in my normal code? Then remove the cables in siren, and disconnect battery? This will stop it?

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

I’m just after the procedure of decommission old one, rather than recommendations. I presumed all would be the same procedure, as I say I only want to make sure that nothing is left that could trigger, or something like that. It’s a scantronic if that makes a difference? Thanks

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

Bought the wireless and this is way I want to go. It gives me more flexibility, arm/disarm remotely, get notifications if goes off, contacts others, integrates with other stuff I have. It’s a Ring. I may do the keypad as well, as it’ll go in same place, but tbh the battery is decent and only...

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

I want to decommission as had continuous problems with old alarm, tampers, motion are ancient etc. So I don’t want hybrid as want to go the wireless/app route and hopefully then will use it. So am I correct in the procedure above? The only wiring I want to use is the cable to the outdoor...

Best way to decommission existing wired alarm?

Wondering what’s the best way and what to do to decommission an old existing wired alarm. I’m going to change to a wireless/app system. I think I’m going to keep the outdoor wiring to the siren, and use that, with an adapter for the new siren though. So am I correct in thinking…. Remove...

uPVC not going into keep at top

yes exactly that its a 4 way keep, so can lock the window open a little, or close completely. When I close completely, I can push on the top right and just pushes/bends so not very safe, and draughty. I've tried to see, and it's not engaging into the keep. There is a long strip on side of...

uPVC not going into keep at top

Have a uPVC window, and realised why its lose, can just push it at top right on handle side, non hinge side, it looks like its not going into the keep at the top. The strip along the opening window on side seems fine, has to be a bit loose I believe, but its not engaging into the keep and so is...

Terrier II TRV shut off completely?

Managed to just turn it after loosening nut, then used pliers to turn it. I don’t think it’s sheared but is strange thanks

Terrier II TRV shut off completely?

Actually I’ve just checked and it does have a 0 on, I couldn’t see before fully, so I presume that the TRV “should” shut off. On the other side it doesn’t have any cap and it’s just a round brass with a nut, how does this turn off? I’ve looked at another radiator and the opposite side to TRV...

Terrier II TRV shut off completely?

I have a radiator that needs coming off the wall as the fixings have come away. It has a Terrier II TRV on. Turning it, it goes to the frost * symbol, and then I can turn a little more but nothing shows just blank. Does this mean it’s shut off? All I can see online is the below, but I can’t...

Rad valve leaking, (very old Mistral)

? Nope friends house, wrapped a towel around as the leak is small but enough to warrant a fix, as pressure had dropped. Carpet will dry, it’s best I can do, if can’t fix tomorrow then yes will call a plumber.

Rad valve leaking, (very old Mistral)

That’s what might have to do. How easy do they come off? I’ve read can get an “olive remove tool”, but haven’t got one and won’t get one by tomorrow. It was the threads that it wouldn’t screw into. I presumed they are different as it wouldn’t tighten, yet the old valve did.
