Unibond bathroom/kitchen sealant on upvc windows

Thanks for your reply John. Is there any possibility of a chemical reaction from the acetic content of this sealant, as there's a strong odour, and the upvc? I ask because it's the nippers bedroom window I've sealed. At this point I'm concerned and thinking I'm just going to have to re-do the...

Unibond bathroom/kitchen sealant on upvc windows

Hi folks, would be really grateful for some advice. The sealant on one of my bedroom windows has gone mouldy so I removed it and placed some unibond kitchen/bathroom sealant on. It seemed just the job as it is anti mould and White and I had some left over from an old job. I'm now wondering if...

Please give advice! Electricity meter - asbestos?

Thanks for your replies. Phatboy, you're right I don't plan to disturb it, I was just concerned that there are frayed edges that could be releasing fibres, if it is asbestos containing material.

Please give advice! Electricity meter - asbestos?

Hi folks, I'm really hoping someone can put my mind at rest about something that's worrying me, especially as I have a nipper. I bought a Victorian terrace 3 years ago and the electricity meter is in a under-stairs cupboard. The supply wires go under the floor boards and are encased in, what I...

Power cable in back yard - asbestos sheath?

Thanks for your reply. The cable in the garage runs to a switchboard of some sort and the cable is definitely some kind of plastic, but it looks thicker than the cable I am concerned about outside? I was pessimistic and thought that a previous owner had removed and replaced any asbestos...

Power cable in back yard - asbestos sheath?

I appreciate your responses folks, thank you. I've checked the garage and on the other side of the wall where the cable enters and it is a black plastic tubing with ridges which is completely different to the cable outside. Unfortunately I can't take pictures of where the cable enters the...

Power cable in back yard - asbestos sheath?

Thanks for the replies. Not really able to take pics of where the cable terminates as one end is concealed in the wall and the other disappears into the house. To be honest I'm too scared to touch it at the minute! I know it sounds daft but I'm a bit of a panicker about this sort of...

Power cable in back yard - asbestos sheath?

Please could I ask some advice regarding this as I'm very worried about it. I bought a Victorian terrace a couple of years ago and in the back yard there is a power cable running from the house to the garage. I have no idea when the garage was built but I'm guessing it was quite some...

Is this asbestos in roofing area?

The garage is detached and not below living accommodation. The actual roof is some kind of hard plastic with a wooden frame below, parts of which you can see in the photos. I was worried about the boards attached to the frame by nails which were attached horizontally as a kind of suspended...

Is this asbestos in roofing area?

Thank you so much gents, this has helped put my mind at rest. Just thought it odd that a lot of these boards have been placed around the wood frames of the roof and I thought it may have been put there as asbestos fire protection. If you're 100% sure, I'll stop worrying!

Is this asbestos in roofing area?

Hi, I'm really stressing about this as I have a nipper. About 2 years ago I bought a house with a garage. The garage seemed in a reasonable state of repair, but I've noticed some material in the ceiling area which I'm concerned as asbestos. It looks like the garage has had a suspended ceiling at...

Cracks in newly plastered wall - please help!

There is another wall with a similar area of blown plaster around 3 feet high all along the wall. The 'stop' point is very much a horizontal line 3 feet high all along the wall. I'm just curious what is the cause. Do you think it's damp that has caused this or house movement?

Cracks in newly plastered wall - please help!

Many thanks for the reply, sounds reassuring. Thing I don't understand is why the plaster has apparently blown all along the bottom of the wall. I can tell this from knocking the wall with my knuckles all along the wall. It seems to have blown in a straight horizontal line so the bottom 3...
