Ok thanks - should the external corners have been mitred though you think?

    Square profile skirting boards

Hello all, Moved into a newbuild house with square profile skirting board throughout. Internal corners are butted up to each other - looks fine. My issue is that the external corners are also just butted up to each other as opposed to being mitred. This doesn't looks so great. Wondered what...

    Horstmann HRT4 ASR-ZW

Afternoon, Just removed the above receiver to decorate. Noticed that the earth wire from the boiler is connected to terminal 2 (com) for some reason. Was curious as to why it is not connected to the earth terminal - see pictures and wiring diagram. Any information would be much appreciated?

    Hepworth Gully question/spare parts

Please forgive my use of terminology which is likely to be incorrect. Moved into a house with the following Hepworth plastic drainage gully which is approx 245mm in diameter. It was covered by a manrose gas vent and half a brick! All neighbours have the other parts pictured below which fit...

    Vibrating taps

Hello, Live in a small 3 bed semi. The bathroom taps upstairs are supplied from the mains. In the last few (very hot) days both the cold bath tap and the basin mixer tap (when turned to cold) make a horrible vibrating noise when turned on or off. The bath taps actually growls for a couple of...

Flushing an open system whilst pump is running and F/E tank filling

Recently cleaned and refilled my central heating using a new method suggested to me by a gas engineer friend partly inspired by something someone suggested on here some time ago. Basically always get air in the microbore system so tried this. Seems to have worked well as all is fine now...

    Whistling/squealing boiler

Hello, Got a Potterton Suprima 30 non condensing boiler - vented y plan system with 7 rads and HW cylinder in air cupboard. All is well and fires up first time/regularly service (last time about 7 months ago). I have noticed that when it fires after about 5 minutes it makes a relatively low...

    Honeywell V4073a hot water priority???

Should add that after an hour or so the hw and CH both come up to temp and all is fine! Its just during the heating up process that HW seems to have priority?

    Honeywell V4073a hot water priority???

Have a question about the Honeywell V073a mid position motorised valve. My system is vented, fully pumped Y plan with a Potterton Suprima non condensing boiler – small house – 7 single panel rads and 125 litre HW cylinder. All works fine at the moment however… I noticed that when the CH and...

Air in pipes - no logical explaination?

Forgot to mention it is a combined feed vent. The water in FE is always cold.

Air in pipes - no logical explaination?

I have a small 3 bed semi detached house with 7 radiators and HW cylinder. The boiler is a Potterton suprima 30 (non condensing) – It is a Y plan, microbore (10mm) unvented system - all fairly standard for 1999 I think. The system has been great and the boiler always fires however. 2 months ago...

Gargling and whooshing noise in central heating and HW pipes

Hello all, Today I checked the tank as Tony suggested =- all fine so full drain down, refilled with x400 and CH/HW on for 4 hours now. Boiler is remarkably quiet now and gargling etc stopped within 30 min. Dunno what cause was but all ok now. Just one more question. When I drain the first time...

Gargling and whooshing noise in central heating and HW pipes

Ill try that tonight. Any other ideas though or is this the likely cause?

Gargling and whooshing noise in central heating and HW pipes

Presume you mean isolating ball cock, draining some water of a rad with the valve on manual and checking if the level of the tank goes down? ie there could be a blockage in the air separator?
