Would a turnbuckle work as a chain tensioner/puller?

The normal chain puller works for most applications but there's a couple of odd jobs where the gap is bigger and the opening width of the chain tensioner isn't enough.

Would a turnbuckle work as a chain tensioner/puller?

We are meant to drop the drive shaft to release tension from the chains but doing it this way saves alot of time. The boss doesn't mind but he just has to turn a blind eye to the modified tools for insurance and liability reasons.

Would a turnbuckle work as a chain tensioner/puller?

Thanks for the replies. Yes I forgot to say a car spring compressor tool would work great but id have to modify it then hide it when it comes to tool checks by my boss. Other than that it would be perfect. Thanks for the links. I have some fuel filter pliers on the way which are similar. As...

How to remove stubbon brake dust from wheels?

Ok managed to shift a fair amount of the brake dust. The wonder wheels wasn't much better than the CIF. The colour changing additive wonder wheels uses seems to be a bit of a gimmick. The thing that shifted most of it was a dishwasher pad and me scrubbing hard. All brushes and sponges seemed to...

Would a turnbuckle work as a chain tensioner/puller?

I have to join some fairly tight chains at work (10B2 style). I was discussing with my collegue if a hook to hook turnbuckle would to pull the chains together so I can get the master link in place. He seemed to think it would work but then giving it some further thought i'm not so sure. I think...

How to remove stubbon brake dust from wheels?

Thankyou for the replies. I have read mixed reviews about wonder wheels. Halford do it for 8quid so I shall give it a whirl. I also hear cif works and also cheap disinfectant with a nylon brush

    2010 Civic owner questions?

Hi all, I've just swapped out a 08 plate honda jazz for a 10 plate honda civic. A couple of features are missing which were on the jazz but seem to be lacking on the civic. I've only had the car a couple of days so may discover these in due course. The two things in question are motorised...

Thanks Woody. Unfortunately the trench keeps filling up with water so it's hard to get the bottom dry. I have some hard-core I could tamp into the bottom of the trench?

Which stages of the build do building control need to check?

OK so we called them and they said they'd be there Monday. I dug the trench dug by hand as I didn't want the weight of the digger to mess up the block paving. Does the trench sides need to be smooth? Slicing the mud off the sides makes me want a kebab

How to prevent digger ruining block pavers when digging footings trench?

Thanks guys. Where I've removed the block pavers so far I've used a couple of old bags of postcrete to haunch up the edge. I'll get some boards down also.

How to prevent digger ruining block pavers when digging footings trench?

Hi all, I needed to get a digger in to dig a trench to extend a garage forwards. Is it worth putting a board down for the digger to work off to prevent damage or sinkage to the rest of the drive or will it make no difference? Digger will be .8 tonne so quite light Thanks for your advice
