Why would I bother coming on here to lie?

Thank you Joe! Noise started again so we turned that valve and it stopped the noise. Turned it back again. Just waiting to hear if noise starts again.

I don't think it is vibrating on a joist. We have taken more floorboards up and wrapped towels round the pipe on the joists to dampen the sound and it didn't stop. It sounds like it's coming from within the pipe. The noise transmits all the way down to the boiler. It's driving us insane.

Well it hasn't rained much recently so I can't tell whether the additional rubber coating has actually worked. He's been back and used a 'rubber' coating - not sure if that's the technical term - all along the length of the gutter - though he said he couldn't see where the leak was coming from so it was just a shot in the dark. It's dry today, so lets see what happens when it rains. Guh.

Thanks. I will get in touch with the manufacturer then. I would be amazed if the system wasn't cleansed at the time of installation. We have one of those fliter gizmos attached to the bottom of the unit - would that make a difference? :?
