    Concrete post

Can you fix a concrete post directly to your house/wall? I have read that it is advisable to use a wood post or a wall plate. I just wondered is it bad to attach a concrete post to your wall and why?

    Kitchen sealant

Perfect, thank you. I will give it a closer inspection once it is fully dry to see if there are any noticeable loose bits or holes. The line is pretty tight and don't want to touch it until it's dry in case I make it worse. Thanks for answering about the sealant on sealant. I was hoping I would...

    Kitchen sealant

That tool looks interesting... I like it. I used masking tape along the top and bottom and I had some weird shape tool that I used to go along at was angle shaped, and then I went over it with a damp soapy finger. Looking at the sizes in your video, I would say my lines look like the 4mm line...

    Kitchen sealant

Yes, I hate them too. The previous owners had a thick one and it really bugged me. Looking at it, I'm pleased with how it looks... there are just some parts that look a little too close. I don't want any water dripping down the backs. Apart from just looking at it, are there any ways of checking...

    Kitchen sealant

I've just popped down some new kitchen sealant along the back. First time I've done it but now wondering if I've done it too thin. It looks neat and still drying but wondering if there's enough thickness to keep any liquid in the counter top. Can I put another layer on top or do I need to...

boiler driving me mad - help!

Ok, 2 months ago I had my first service on my Worcester Bosch combo boiler. All has been perfect with my 1 year old boiler… until now. 4 days ago the boiler fired up on it's on and went into lockdown mode insisting on a reset, the frequency has increased since then. i had the guys who...

    Worcester Bosch Combi Boiler issues...

Worcester Bosch Combi Boiler just over a year old - had it's first service a month ago… Today, I heard the boiler fire up and stay on unprompted. No water or gas was being used at the time. Noticed the pilots light was flashing. Reset button also flashing red (every second). Held down...

    Is this a standard price?

It's irrelevant whether it's a service or commodity. Fact is if you're paying for something you need a guideline on what is acceptable for what you're getting. I've had some very helpful answers and my question has now been answered but thank you for your input.

    Is this a standard price?

Ha ha, not at all. That would be wishful thinking. I wanted to make sure someone wasn't having a chuckle at my expense. Would you buy something without knowing its approximate market value?

    Is this a standard price?

That's reassuring to know. If the boiler is only a year old and everything seems to be running as it should, it should only cost me the £90 I'm hoping, or are there bits and pieces bolted on to the price typically?

    Is this a standard price?

Hi, I had a combi boiler installed last year and apologies for my ignorance but my last place ran on electric so I have no idea about anything concerning gas. The guys who installed it emailed me with a quote of £90 incl. vat for a service as apparently you have to have an annual service to...

    Best hand tool?

I just googled floor scraper and that looks quite interesting actually as long as it isn't too big lol

    Best hand tool?

The patio scrapper looks ok but was after something with a handle. If you can imagine the street where the road meets the curb of the pavement. I need to run something around there. Don't really want to go out there with a blow torch as I think the neighbours would run a mile. Something less...

    Best hand tool?

Hi. Out the front of my house there is a concrete floor with a raised bit of grass with a surrounding curb. It is becoming overgrown with grass and weeds growing in the curb. Can anyone recommend a hand tool to use to get rid? I can't use any chemical removers as there are a lot of...

    Recommendation for fence colour?

Aha, sounds like I'm gonna have to use some form of primer before top coat regardless. The colour is so grim! I'm sure it looked lovely on the packaging lol.

    Recommendation for fence colour?

That's annoying! I've just googled it and that actually looks a nice colour! It doesn't appear to have a red tone in!

    Recommendation for fence colour?

Here's the dilemma. The garden is fairly small - 40 ft long and narrow. The colour up when I moved in was a red/dark brown colour. It's due for a make over but finding it hard to select a colour. The dark colour is too on the red side for my liking. I'm also aware that a lot of the...

    Door painting blunder!

What a relief. I really didn't want to start having to start again. Got 2 other doors to do. So you reckon it would be ok to do the same with the others?
