    misting with vinyl silk emulsion

Yes not a good idea but proberbly will not cause you any problems especially If it was old plaster.Even new plaster theres no rule that says it will all peel off.9 times out of 10 it will bond fine

MDF, Priming, Undercoat, Emulsion and gloss question

Not ideal but you can emulsion it.Best to use a water based primer undercoat as the edges will rub down better as it drys harder then emulsion

    Painting patchy render

No what causes it to look patchy is different textures and santex is basically paint with fine sand and will not hide the difference in textures. You will need to use a high build paint but really needs to be applied by some one who knows what there doing as it is applied by trowel

    Exterior gloss query

That's a Dulux paint code and will need to come from a Dulux decorating center or any where that has a Dulux mixing machine. You may be able to get a colour match in other makes from a swatch but seldom are they an exact match

Priming a New Flat PREMDOOR FD30 Fire Door

    Patchy result after 2 coats

More likely to be application technique,First thing with trade paint is it needs to be thinned about 10% usually.make sure you load the roller even and roll in all directions,Are you using a pole on the end of the roller as this will help with the correct pressure on the roller

    Painting/treating concrete floor in garage

.If you want a paint finish, Hoover the floor to get rid of most of the dust then thin the first coat of paint 20% with white spirit/water depending on type,2nd coat unthinned Or as above and use a clear stabilizing solution If you want natural concrete

    Is undercoat needed?

Dark grey would cover over red much better then white as said
