    Wiring Double plug sockets

I’d do it for £20 as long as it takes no longer than an hour. It shouldn’t, but you never know what’s hiding behind the existing!

3 port valve to divert hot water sources.

Good question of which I should have mentioned as I knew it would come up. Price of energy here isn’t an issue, I have a plan under my hat for the electric side of things. If it works then I will happily share it. Ok, so I thought 3 port valves we’re already used for water systems but I was...

3 port valve to divert hot water sources.

Morning chaps. Long time no see, Happy new year to you all. I’ve currently got a combi boiler that isn’t that old, but I’d like to fit a small electric hot water tank to supply the bathroom basin and kitchen sink. I have worked out that most of the time there would be enough stored water but...

    Incoming supply corroded

I wouldn’t worry about it, it’s the outside armours that have rusted, the cable itself will be absolutely fine. Underneath that is lead which is what the earth is connected to. UKPN will certainly come out to take a look if you phone up to say you’re concerned, but you’ll be reassured that it’s...

Where can i get one of these

I have a shelf full of them in my van. But they’re not to be put into the wrong hands. Why do you want one? If there’s something wrong with it, it won’t cost you to have it repaired/replaced.

    Birds cause power cuts

We had something similar a couple years back on a pheasant farm. We were getting no supply calls that became a pattern. Turned out the pheasants were roosting on the bare LV line, and when they flew off in the morning, clashed the line together, blowing the PMT fuses. Changed for covered...

    Electricity meter exposed cable

Wtf! I’d get pulled into the office if I done that! He done that without even pulling it out, didn’t he? Just to save him doing a polarity check no doubt!

Do i need a different light switch?

If there isn’t then it should be connected to the metallic box by other means.

    Avoiding blocked soakaway

Thanks chaps. Do they have some kind of grill or filter to stop any crap making its way through? My concern with the channel drain is how it would be periodically cleaned out. Cheers

    Avoiding blocked soakaway

One fitted to each point? I can’t find any info on this subject at all. How are they accessed when layers under paving etc? Especially if a slot channel drain is used? Thanks.

    Avoiding blocked soakaway

morning chaps. I’m in the process of planning my soakaway, which will take the rainwater away from the rear extension guttering and channel drains in 2 locations. I plan on them going down just one pipe into the soakaway itself. What do I need to put in place to stop the like of leaves and...

    Generators....

This. We have a few 6kva’s but found they don’t run a house with more than 1 thing running at a time so don’t take them out anymore. I only ever take a 10 or even a 30 for single premises. Looping supplies is no longer allowed.

    Generators....

We connect minimum 10kva to single premises’ in order to run everything.

    Boxing In Electric Meter

What part of the country are you in? I’m assuming the incoming supply runs through the loft before coming to that position? Is there any slack or does it run past where you would like it to be positioned?

TN-S outside - but TT inside UPDATE -New Pictures

What area are you in? Can’t see from the DOD sign. It’s a single phase tank. But I too have never seen tns on the overheads. Your lead-in appears to be concentric, there’s no pme label or an earth coming out of the neutral block. So it should be a TT stystem. If the EFLI is <0.35 then your...

    Neighbours requested time constraint.

Thank you to those of you who gave me useful help and comments. I phoned the council today to discuss but they said it’s too late as the decision has been made. I quote “no hours of construction condition is recommended in this case” Happy days!!!
