Help! Buying house with damp party wall?

That's probably only the beginning of your troubles, you always find more once you've lived there for a few weeks. I'd leave it well alone.

    How safe is your house?

Indeed. Much like benefits britain, people get enraged by it, that's exactly what the makers wanted.

Sorry, I'm just having a daft BAS moment.

    Silent pull switch

No, it's not why you said "might". You said 'if you've got an extractor'. If you knew what you meant, you'd say 'if you have an extractor operated by a switched live from the light switch'.

Appliance fire but RCD didn't trip

RCD's don't detect flames or sparks or smoke. RCD's are there to detect any leakage of current to earth, which if there isn't, won't trip, so it sounds as though there wasn't any sufficient earth leakage.

Another downlighter thread, sorry, but advice required...

The JCC fire guard fittings are very good. Peoples views on fitting fire rated fittings are mixed. I would go fire rated because if you don't, the ceiling is now worse than it were before even if it wasn't documented as being fire rated, it will have offered some protection. Plus the...

    Voltages between L - N - E

The OP says there's a 32A breaker, not a 400A fuse, not sure where that came from.

Why is my house cold and damp?

If you can afford to run a light bulb, you can afford to run an extractor fan.

    Mains USB Charger

All money which stays in my pocket and out of the energy companies and the government, is worth it to me.

    Mains USB Charger

To be honest, I do unplug them and tell off my other half for leaving them in all the time. After all, it's my name the lectric bill is on!

    Mains USB Charger

Probably just thinking of the bathroom shaver sockets. Cheap SMPS's aren't all that great, but got to be better.
