    PIR sensor for bathroom fan

That looks like just the job but is it really all that different to this one? http://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-indoor-ceiling-flush-pir/47121 I'll happily pay an extra £30 to not be electrocuted in the shower... The cheaper one says it's suitable for outdoors so it must be at least splashproof too.

    PIR sensor for bathroom fan

It's an electric shower so there's only a cold feed to it.

    PIR sensor for bathroom fan

I suppose I could always install it outside the shower cubicle and blank off the sections of the "eye" that aren't looking at the shower.

    PIR sensor for bathroom fan

I have a PIR sensor (ceiling mount type) and it's rated IP44. Can this be mounted in the ceiling above a shower tray to switch on/off the bathroom fan?... or would I need to find a higher rated sensor - IP67 or whatever. thanks.

fitting bottle trap to basin waste

thanks for the advice. Was very close to going with the silicone idea but after a lot of searching and trial and error I found a trap that fitted (chromed brass from Screwfix for about £12). Turns out that although B&Q sell the tap and waste, they don't stock a trap to fit it!

fitting bottle trap to basin waste

when i connect the trap to the bottom threads, the nut fouls on the nut for the rod on the left as looked at in this drawing.

fitting bottle trap to basin waste

I've got a new basin and tap for the nathroom. When I went to connect the pop up basin waste which came with the tap to a fairly standard looking bottle trap I found that it wouldn't tighten up. The threads fit, the pipe is the same size and it should all go together but the plastic...

    supply to electric shower

I was thinking of doing that just after the T connector. One of these? http://www.screwfix.com/p/full-bore-lever-ball-valve-15mm/80413?cm_sp=Search-_-SearchRec-_-Area2&_requestid=68190#_=p

    supply to electric shower

The original question was about water supply and confirming what I thought about how I would do it - the fact that it was connected to the water tank made me think I was missing something. I was just trying to save you the bother of replying about the electrical side of things. When I bought...

    supply to electric shower

Did you see the bit where I said I was replacing an existing 9.5kw electric shower with a new 9.5kw electric shower? The wiring and rcd are fine.

    supply to electric shower

Thanks. There's a 9.5kw shower already in there so I'm just swapping one unit for the other, the electrics side of it is handy, just using the existing wiring. I thought I might as well 'fix' the water supply while i'm at it.

    supply to electric shower

I'm fairly new to plumbing so tell me if this is not possible or if there's some reason it can't be done. So, we're replacing our bathroom and getting a new electric shower (to replace the 1989 model that's in place). The current shower is fed from the water tank in the roofspace and the...

    pigeon poo

Yeah, that might work, hadn't thought of just panelling it in to remove the alcove. Either that or a cat, a length of chain and an eyebolt.

    pigeon poo

Hi, We've got a building with a (badly designed) alcove at 2nd floor level which sits over a glass atrium. Pigeons roost in the alcove and poo all down the glass. Having tried pigeon spikes - which they seem to just sit behind - i'm looking at alternate solutions. Has anybody every used an...

    chain size

    it's a pretty hefty gate :)

    chain size

I think a chain counts as DIY materials... I need a bit of chain to lock a gate with. When a description says a 10mm chain - does this mean it's made from 10mm thick bar or that the overall width of the links is 10mm? http://www.screwfix.com/jsp/trolley/trolleyPage.jsp?_requestid=128489

    Kitchen pelmets and cornices

I made mine out of some cheaper pine architrave painted to match the doors. Looks ok. I did have to run one edge of it along the router table with a 45 degree cutter to get it to overhang at the top though - just having it upright doesn't look right.

    kitchen cabinet drawer runner

Hi, I'm having trouble tracking down a replacement drawer runner. Anybody know where I can get a pair of these, they're approximately 480mm long. I'm open to suggestions if there's some other better way of doing it - everything seems to be bottom mounted rather than side mounted...

    Router bits

Thanks. I'll try out the idea of doing it in two or three runs with different cutters on a few test pieces of wood and see how I get on. That's maybe the cheaper option but it'll require a bit more planning and thinking.

    Router bits

They don't seem to have anything as bit as those in the pictures. I'm wanting to make my own stile and rail doors from 45mm thick wood. I've found a supplier for those yellow ones in America but would rather get them in the UK. Seems like Trend don't do anything larger than those for...
