PIR direct to wall - fixings?

Sometime ago I posted about insulating my single block garage walls. With the advice received, we're about to start this using 75mm PIR direct to wall attached using 3 x 1 battens and plasterboard to the battens. Question is, how should I be fixing this? There is 100mm in depth before the...

    Garage Insulation

That's interesting about the cables. Until about 10 years ago I was in office build and refurb. T&E was always in the rockwoll within the drywall.

    Garage Insulation

Hi, thank you for your prompt reply. Yes, single block walls with double width column. The gap that is left for the cables, can I add additional rock wool in here as I have an abundance of it left from the roof? And no DPM required for the battons on the floor either? Thank you.

    Garage Insulation

Hi all, I'm about to start insulating my garage using 50mm battons and celotex on the floor and walls. Question is, do I need to put a DPM under and behind these? Thank you.

    Concreting over slab

I've had a 'builder' pour a slab for a shed and honestly it's the worst job I've ever seen. Usually I would have done it myself but didn't have time. The top is too uneven to simply screed over, so I'm plannig to a pour about 30 to 50mm depth over the top. Obviously never had to do this...

    Just checking concrete slab calculations.

One other quickie, does my slab actually need to be 150mm thick? It's having a 12 x 6 wood shed on it and and I'm also adding a piece of A142, so I'm thinking 150mm may not be necessary???

    Just checking concrete slab calculations.

@alastairreid, thanks, turns out my original calculations were spot on, may be a little too spot on.... Good idea, I think I'll be getting a few cement and ballast just in case. Thanks for the replies.

    Just checking concrete slab calculations.

I am pouring a concrete slab for a new shed in a few weeks time and just want to check I'll be ordering enough materials. The slab is 3700mm x 1860mm x 150mm and I'm ordering 2 off 850kg bags of all in one ballast and 14 bags of cement. Scalpings are already in place to 75mm. Thanks.

Clay tiles on a new hearth....

I am constructing a new hearth for my wood burner. Can I lay the clay tiles directly into/onto my lime/sand/cement mortar I am using for the slab or do I need to use a tile adhesive? The reason that I am asking is that the tiles are reclaimed hand thrown and far from flat on the rear. The tile...

    Small Wood burner install.....

Perfectly aware, thank you. I have a HETAS engineer to install the flue and burner. But, I shall be completing the 'mundane' preparation of the hole. Just need to clarify materials.

    Small Wood burner install.....

After further research last night, it appears I do not need to purchase specific 'over priced' heat resistant mortar/render for my builders opening and hearth, but, in fact I can mix my own using a mix of hydrated lime, cement and sand (1,1,5). Any comments/information on this would be very...

    Small Wood burner install.....

Hi Guys, my first post here. Ok, I've searched on here and all over the internet and cannot find 'definitive' answers to my questions. My apologies if I have missed the answers somewhere. So, I have removed my gas fire and wood surround and have just a bare builders hole. I had planed on...
