How can I sister this joist

So now I’ve discovered I have a twisted joist. Would it be best to run a new on parallel on the inside, one end in the brick work and the other end fixed with coach bolts to the joist before the twist starts. The chimney breast below will be removed, so the 7x2 on the wall far side of breast...

How can I sister this joist

Hi, I have recently removed a 18” x 18” chimney breast from a bedroom. I need to connect the 2 joists which run either side of the breast together. The breast is up against a party wall and the joist is also more or less against the party wall. How can I sister this. My problem is, I cannot...

Biasi 24s problem diagnosed, but what now.

Ian, thanks. Ive seen Genuine new ones on ebay for less than £30, I will chance that. Also, I detached the heat temp sensor plug from the sensor on the diverter valve and it continued with the same problem, should that happen ?? Surely the boiler should act differently with the sensor detached...

Biasi 24s problem diagnosed, but what now.

I will delete the other post. As for the material of the heat exchanger, then it would have to be a low acidic cleaner. Would something like white vinegar solve it, or something stronger. We are a soft water area and have never been plagued by limescale at all. It’s only the heat exchanger I...

Biasi 24s problem diagnosed, but what now.

Garden tap pressure !!! Clean water Flushed and reverse flushed through the 4 holes. Never had the flow issue before the diverter was changed. Thanks

Biasi 24s problem diagnosed, but what now.

My boiler keeps cutting out on DHW. Recently I replaced the diverter valve and the heat exchanger has been fully flushed. I have now diagnosed the fault, but don’t know how to resolve. The problem is the flow rate. With the old diverter the DHW flow from the tap could be low and the boiler...

Hi, I changed the diverter. I have just removed the connector from the temp sensor and the dhw is still having the same issues, would this indicate a sensor failure ? Thanks

Hi, I’ve removed and flushed out the heat exchanger, but the problem persists... What for the next move. The issue was apparent almost straight away. Thanks

I have posted previously about our boiler issues. None being gas related. After much messing about, our boiler issue was with the diverter valve. This has now been replaced with a new one, but I still have a issue. The problem is with the DHW only. When a hot tap is turned on, the boiler...

Biasi 24s.... going to rip from wall !!! CH & DHW Issues

When the boiler is playing up and no DHW, I found that if I put the timer switch to the on pos, and fired up the central heating, the hot water side then fired and stayed on after I turned the CH off. This works all the time. Every time cannot be a coincidence.

Biasi 24s.... going to rip from wall !!! CH & DHW Issues

DP, thanks for the clarification. Glad you know what your talking about. I thought my boiler only had one pump which was on the CH side. If you dare tell me now it has I will be totally lost !!!! But seriously, I am a little worried that as this is an intermittent fault, it therefore could be...

Biasi 24s.... going to rip from wall !!! CH & DHW Issues

DP, Like I said in my post with exclamation marks. Maybe it would have been better to put question marks and worded better. I was trying to say that I thought the cold mains pressure was used on the DHW side, to push it through the boiler and then the DHW system. The DHW isn't pumped, as it's...

Biasi 24s.... going to rip from wall !!! CH & DHW Issues

Hi Tony, Thanks for the reply. Not being the boiler expert, but surely the switch for the pump operates the CH side of the system. The DHW isn't pumped, as it's pressure is maintained by the Cold Water Mains pressure !!!! Why would a switch on the CH pump have any bearing on the system...

Biasi 24s.... going to rip from wall !!! CH & DHW Issues

We are going to be moving shortly and my Biasi 24S has started playing up. We had issues a bit back and got some fantastic helpfrom here, to which I explained to the Engineer and he sorted it. So, intermittent issue. Calls for DHW and CH, goes through all sequence but will not fire. Other times...

Biasi 24S C/H comes on, when not called

Hi, thanks for that. Yes it can be removed. So I had best do it today. Its just a front and 2 sides, with a base, a simple contraption, just to tidy things up. Thanks for that

Biasi 24S C/H comes on, when not called

So, this morning, I ventured to a local plumbers merchants, who deal with boilers only. I explained the issues. The top geezer explained everything to me, showing me schematics and how it all works with the use of spares. Such a top lad, he's even coming out to do the repair tomorrow. Yes...

Biasi 24S C/H comes on, when not called

Nice comment, I thought I had found someone who knows what he's doing. The problem is as I am not a plumber, so how do I know IF someone does know what they are doing. That's why I'm here asking for pointers. If I hadn't come on here first, to read up, I would be £200 lighter as I would...

Biasi 24S C/H comes on, when not called

when a plumber tells me first off its a pcb, of course I'm going to tell him what I've read on here, it doesn't help me much when he admits to never having touched a Biasi. So please enlighten me to what is the DHW Gland, I really need to point this geezer in the right direction, before he...

Biasi 24S C/H comes on, when not called

Hi, everyone, I have read quite a few posts on here about the 24S C/H coming on by itself. Mine is having the same issues. Generally after running a hot tap, the C/H comes on, and the timer switch is over ridden, and can only turn the boiler off by the winter/summer switch. Just had a...
