    Kilowattage question. Help please.

OK. So I did all the LABC officer asked for in Oct 2019. Fire doors, Induction hob, and most expensively and crucially, the Automist system costing me over £3K which he and his Fire Safety Officer approved [in writing] back in oct 2019 and now BC is saying he's not sure he can sign it off. He...

    Kilowattage question. Help please.

An update for all concerned. I've gone and bought a plug and play induction hob and electric oven. Both are less than 2.5 KW each. This meant buying a new length of worktop to sink the hob into and a oven cabinet. So that's that. It's done. This also meant that running that 10mm cable under the...

    Kilowattage question. Help please.

RE: BC and Sparks, I couldn't agree more. But they're the ones that are signing this off and I just want it done. I'm actually a bit relieved to not be using the 10mm cable I laid and having to buy a free standing oven with induction hob. They cost a small fortune for what they are. Thanks for...

    Kilowattage question. Help please.

John, I really cant be bothered getting in a row with this BC bloke. Maybe that's irresponsible of me, but if you were under the stress I am, you might do the same. No, I dont need to leave them. I may choose to though. Cheers James

    Kilowattage question. Help please.

So the 10mm cable I ran under the floor was a waste of time. I'm going plug and play with hob and oven.

    Kilowattage question. Help please.

Thanks for your reply John. The thing is - we're selling up and I really can't be bothered arguing with my LABC bloke. I just want this situation sorted, so we can get the sign off and move. BC are insisting on fire doors and an induction hob. So that's what they're going to get. My Sparks got...

    Kilowattage question. Help please.

No I didn't. The instruction was very simple and straight forward. I am to put fire doors everywhere and swap my existing dual power cooker for an induction hob because, he said, of fire risk.

My Sparks is doing the connections. I can't get hold of him though and Mrs. Jacksoncraft wants to order the new cooker today.

    Kilowattage question. Help please.

Thanks, I'll try the and go down the tranny route if he causes me too many more problems. Biggest mistake I've ever made is not going with private building control. Dealing with my useless, lazy, inefficient LA is a total nightmare.

    Kilowattage question. Help please.

Thanks for the replies. The reason they're poking their nose in about the cooker, is because I've removed a wall that divided the kitchen from the rest of the flat, so we can have an open plan Kitchen/Dining room. So the only way out - to the door leading downstairs, [in event of a fire] is...

    Kilowattage question. Help please.

Morning all, I've been told by building control that I have to have an induction hob in my kitchen to get the work I've done signed-off. I've run a 10mm cable to the consumer unit and I'm wondering, would a 10.8 KW cooker run ok on that? Or does the cooker I get have to be exactly 10KW, or less...

    Noisy main water pipes

The pipes haven't moved in decades, they're the original lead ones. Possibly there's a leak I spose, but I don't think so. You could be right though, but they're buried in the walls and I can't see any signs of water damage anywhere. It's weird because it's only started about a month ago.

    Noisy main water pipes

My taps are the 1/4 turn then. I'll try and turn the main stop valve down to about a quarter. Thanks for your help.

    Noisy main water pipes

Harry Bloomfield : No not a hammer sound. Like a rattling, vibrating type-of-sound. I wish I could attach a sound file! Chris : I'm not sure I know what 'quarter turn taps' are? They're all, apart from the bathroom sink, mixers.

    Noisy main water pipes

Afternoon all. Lead pipes in my flat have started rattling all of a sudden. Any advice on how to fix it, would be enormously appreciated.
