Invented cylinder - no heating when water is on?

Hi All We recently had an unvented cylinder fitted. Everything seemed to be working fine but we have recently noticed that If the water is on then the heating won't come on until the water is finished. Is this normal? Thanks in advance for any info!

    Felt?

All the old tiles are now off and replaced with new ones. It's just that I don't remember seeing any felt or membrane and want to put my mind at rest now but can't see how to check. The right hand bit is slightly raised - that's original and matches next door

    Felt?

Thanks for the reply. The tiles on the right are the old ones coming off. There's no architect but I'll try asking the builders and see what they say. Thanks

    Felt?

hi. We’re coming to the end of a loft conversion and it’s just occurred to me that I didn’t notice if the builders used felt under the new roof tiles. Looking back through my photos I have this which shows the insulation but no felt or battens. How can I check? Am I being ridiculous?!

    Pressurised water, not pressurised heating?

hi. Hopefully quick question. Can you have pressurised meagflo style hot water system but not pressurise the central heating system?

    What is this noise??

Thanks Madrab. Do you think it's a problem with the pump or the installation?

    What is this noise??

Pump is not new but I understood the pump was just for the radiators and radiators weren't on this morning

Hello. Sorry that was a pic taken during installation. I just wanted to show the type of cylinder. Will try and upload the video of it now

    What is this noise??

hi All We had a new cylinder fitted yesterday. A really loud noise started this morning when I ran a bath. The noise only stopped when we switched the boiler off at the wall. Any ideas if this is normal? If not what the problem is? I have a video of the noise but can't work out how to upload...

    Mega flow and central heating

Thanks for the replies. Double checking the email from the builder it says pressurise not repressurise. So 450 makes a bit more sense for some actual work rather than just topping up the system with water. As there's an F&E tank in the loft which presumably can't stay there for the conversion...

    Mega flow and central heating

Hi, we're paying our builders to put in a megaflow as part of a loft conversion (at what we thought was a reasonable price). They have now said that as part of this they need to re-pressurise the central heating system at a price of £450. Sounds a bit fishy to me. Any thoughts?

How to install fan on 1st floor when loft bathroom above it

Hello, family bathroom on 2st floor needs a fan fitting. Thing is there is another bathroom on top, added as part of the loft conversion. Is the fan still doable?

    Conservatory impact on loft conversion?

Thank you! Sounds promising that we might be ok. I have a rep coming from a loft company this afternoon so I will get his opinion too.

    Conservatory impact on loft conversion?

Would anyone know whether it is typical for the load of a loft conversion to be transferred down the front and back of the house or down the party wall and the side wall?

    Conservatory impact on loft conversion?

Thanks both. I will add some photos when I get home to try and shed some light. Interesting point that the loft could be designed to put the loads are transmitted elsewhere. Thanks!

    Conservatory impact on loft conversion?

hi all, we're hoping to have a loft conversion on our 1920s/1930s semi. On the ground floor we have a conservatory which is original to the house and the entrance to that has a beam across the top supporting the back wall of the house Different builders have said different things about this -...

    Down pipe deadend!

Hello, thanks all. The oven door has been removed and the drain seems to be working ok. Goodness knows why the previous owners did that!! There do seem to be holes at the bottom of the render. The wall seems fairly solid when tapped. Although I'm not sure quite what I'm listening for... Are...
