In which order should I balance my radiators?

Thanks oldbuffer - I'll bear that in mind :D

In which order should I balance my radiators?

I know it's an apparently stupid question, but I'm planning on balancing the rads in my central heating system, and I want to be sure I balance them in the correct order. We have a Worcester Greenstar gas condensing boiler fitted in our ground floor kitchen. The kitchen has 2 rads in it. The...

    Are Bulldog TRV heads interchangeable?

Thanks very much ericmark, that's definitely given me a lot to think about. Programmable certainly seems the way to go - or at least give one a try!!

    Are Bulldog TRV heads interchangeable?

Thanks Chris, I think you're right. I'll give Peglers a ring and see if they can confirm. I wish it was just bleeding needed, but the rad just became warm all over. A few other rads are also playing silly buggers, which is why I think balancing must be the answer.

    Are Bulldog TRV heads interchangeable?

I did previously remove it - and it did cure the problem. At least it got the previously cold rad up to a bit above lukewarm - so now I'm thinking the system needs balancing. But I still need a new head for the faulty valve (or a whole new valve :-( )

    Are Bulldog TRV heads interchangeable?

I'm having problems with one radiator in the house (colder than it should be) and think the problem lies with the 11 year-old Bulldog TRV. From its age, I assume it's a Gen 1 valve. It's the only Bulldog in the house, so I can't just swap the head with another Bulldog to check. I'm happy to...

    Beko fridge freezer too cold

Hi, we have a Beko CDA648FW/1 fridge freezer, about 10 years old, which is far too cold - despite turning the thermostat in the top of the fridge to Min. The lower level of the fridge gets so cold that the vegetables freeze. The freezer is also much colder than it needs to be (I have a fridge...

Can dishwashers "crack" glassware and china?

Thanks ericmark, that's a REALLY interesting explanation of the properties of glass and pottery!! Whoever would have thought that glass is never fully solid?

Can dishwashers "crack" glassware and china?

Thanks everyone - I think we're all agreed that dishwashers don't seriously damage "dishwasher-safe" items if the machine is used correctly. Glasses will cloud if you choose to wash them too hot at same time as crockery, and colours may fade after long-term dishwashing - but all this can be...

Can dishwashers "crack" glassware and china?

Please can someone resolve an argument between my wife and I? She says some of our drinking glasses, mugs and cups are cracked because of the dishwasher, and we need a new dishwasher. I say that items in a dishwasher get very hot, and frequent washing in a dishwasher can cause the glaze on...

Drayton Digistat+ room thermostat - advice please

Thanks everyone. The location is perfect, but I'll check the neutral tomorrow. As you say, a replacement isn't expensive - might go for the RF version, as the ability to move the stat from room to room appeals!

Drayton Digistat+ room thermostat - advice please

I've had this fitted for approx. 3 years (it's the bog standard, wired, non-RF, battery operated model) and, as far as I recall, it's always had the well-documented fault of indicating 1-2 degrees above what the room temperature actually is. I could live with that, if that was the only issue...

    Cleaning lead flashing

Part of a job will involve cleaning some lead flashing - NOT painting, just cleaning. The problem is, the flashing has been stained by wasp nest spray/killer dripping from the fascia onto the flashing (or so I'm told). I've read all the posts about lead oxidising etc, and using patination oil...
