Baxi Combi platinum 28he - Whistling

Well I have backed off the cold inlet to the boiler and it seems to have done the trick. It whistles even with the boiler turned off but flowing how water through the taps, I guess here must be some sort f build up or something on the water routes through?

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

Thanks John, any ideas on the connecting up queries? I'll have to get onto google in a bit cos I am none the wiser having looked at the conduit boxes now! Edit - Thanks ban-all-sheds, that sounds like a reasonable plan actually. And makes sense for stopping water ingress. I'd not want to just...

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

It will only be the cat5 / telephone going through conduit and the run is approx. 2m, so not a great length to get it through. The reason I'm seeing if it is ok as I actually have a reel of it at home and thought I could use it, rather than getting something else. I do understand that it can be...

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

Again thanks for all your help guys, I have in fact sourced another sparky who has ben really helpful and gone through the load / numbers with me and recommends 4mm cable. He's coming to install and sign off in the next week or so. My responsibility is to sort the cat5 from the house to the...

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

Ok thanks for the honest advice John, much appreciated – for reference this is the chart I used to see what cable may be required: //www.diynot.com/pages/el/el004.php I’m not 100% sure if any further power requirements may be needed in the future, I suppose it could be possible - The...

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

That's right John, I've found a chart on this site that cross references cable size to load and to my (very limited) knowledge on this I see it as 2.5mm, but obviously not 100% as I should be trusting the trade, but have two opinions!

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

No I won't be doing same duct for both, but thanks for the info on the up / down. Still not sure what elec cable to use from the house, 2.5mm or 6mm?

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

I've had a second sparky in today to look and quote for work, as I'm having problems contacting the first guy. He's got a different view on cable and says 2.5mm armoured is more than enough, the other guy said 10mm is overkill but 6mm is what he'd install. I'd be running a 1.5kw heater...

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

[/url] Unfortunately no where near! Shame that, thanks for looking :) Just wonderng, how do I connect the standard 22mm duct Id run down the house walls to this sort of duct for underground?

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

Ok thanks for that info, the cable duct looks good, but I only need 2m not 50m! If I try searching for alternatives, what should I look for, twinwall duct? Obviously not the type I posted earlier. :)

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

Quick question re underground cabling: I will be running the electric and cat5 underground for approx. 2m, and am aware that it needs to go down 600mm minimum and be laid on sand. Just wondering if solid conduit is best or the flexible stuff: This...

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

Ok good feedback thanks - I'm not in the trade so a bit naieve on what you can and cannot do, hence my asking on here. So sparky came out at the weekend and has advised 6mm cable to be used for the run, and will be clipped to the house / run underground in flexi conduit. I know whats what...

Right Ok, thanks for the input. Advise taken and will engage sparky before sorting the electric side. Cat 5 wise I'll use outdoor grade in a duct all the way! Cheers

Baxi Combi platinum 28he - Whistling

Hiya - My Baxi Combi boiler makes a whistling sound when hot water is run through the taps at high flow, eg filling the bath. You can stop the whistle by turning the tap back a tad, which I am doing, but not sure what is causing this. Any ideas? Thanks...

Power and CAT5 Run for Garden Shed

Hi All, I'm in the process of finalising a garden shed build that will double as an office, have to get the power and data sorted out and wanted to check a couple of things on cabling requirements first, cos I don't want to have to do it again! I will be running all cables and then...

    MCB Won't Stay On

Thanks for all your feedback - have tried the suggestions and still not staying on. It's just a two position switch, so no reset option. Got to get a sparky in for wiring electics to an outhouse so this is another job for him!

    MCB Won't Stay On

Got a little gremlin in at the mo, turned off the main power in the consumer unit today as well as all MCB's. Had to drill a hole near a lounge socket, so this was off as a precaution. When I flicked all MCB's back on and the mains, the cooker MCB doesn't stay on. I have drilled no where near...
