Texecom - failing wired door contact?

Fair enough. I have the GSM connected. Texting works, it texts when the wife forgets to unarm the shed (seperate area) and it dropped me a text when I got home after it had gone off with this issue but no text at the point it was triggered.

Texecom - failing wired door contact?

Any idea why it didn't text me too?

Texecom - failing wired door contact?

Well there we go! I'll have to whip out the old one and check depth of current hole as that one is longer. Thanks again!

Texecom - failing wired door contact?

Ah I see. Thanks. I did try to look for ones with them built in but didn't have any luck. I have the flush mounted ones, so the cable comes into the door frame from in the wall, and a 20mm (I think) hole is in the door frame that the wiring part sits in. The magnet part is drilled into the top...

Texecom - failing wired door contact?

That's awesome, thank you secureiam. I will order a new door contact and replace the resistors in there too at the same time. Just checked and they line up perfectly. Why didn't I get a text when the alarm went off though, I only got a text when I returned home and opened the door? Would putting...

Texecom - failing wired door contact?

I have a fully wired Texecom system that is about 7 years old. Over the past couple of months, the alarm has sounded twice for zone 001, the front door contact. The magnet is mounted within the door frame so it's all hidden and cable runs inside the wall, it is wired EOL. When the alarm sounds...

Thanks for the info, I will take a look. The noise is on the flow side.

EvoHome, Vaillant Exclusive and radiator noise

Hi I have a Vaillant Exclusive 832, which feeds 7 radiators in my bungalow. I have an issue with radiators making like a whistling noise when the heating comes on in that room (I use EvoHome so only one or two rads are normally on at one time). When the boiler was installed, it was not...

    Which part?

2.4 & 5 settings on my router question.

For what it's worth, I have run both separate SSIDs for both and single SSID for both. I prefer having only 1 SSID with both assigned to that. Unifi kit seems to handle it fine and so do all the clients I connect. Unifi sets it up this way by default too.

    Photocell for Outdoor Lights

IIRC, those photocells have no earth, so 3 core flex using a 20mm gland. As Flameport said, you can swap out the sensor easily without touching wiring but they last years normally.

    Central heating radiators

There are calculators online that will give you a rough idea for the required BTU so it will not struggle to heat the space you have. You input your rooms size, materials, windows etc and it will give you a BTU figure. Also worth checking I guess that your boiler has capacity to output the extra...

Two boilers; how many hive units do I need?

Loads of good advice! For what it's worth, I went down the EvoHome route and would never look back. I do like the look of the Drayton offering though.

Staining from new closeboard fence onto newly rendered wall below

Is there anything available that would 'seal' the paint on the wall to stop stains from sticking to the paint?

Staining from new closeboard fence onto newly rendered wall below

Not sure exactly, it would be a few inches for sure. Trouble is, our bungalow and wall at the front is white, so it sort of matches in. But the stains can't stay, it looks horrendous, so might have to paint a different colour - time to talk to the wife! Any ideas on what to clean the stains off...

Staining from new closeboard fence onto newly rendered wall below

Ah, I just read that again. The post holders were fitted by the last people who lived there, probably about 10 years ago!

Staining from new closeboard fence onto newly rendered wall below

Ah yes, that was used along the top - I did a google and recognised the plastic beading. Yes, I would need to remove all the closeboard and then add capping and put it all back - not the end of the world if it resolved the issue but I would be pretty annoyed if it just carried on afterwards...

Staining from new closeboard fence onto newly rendered wall below

Hi. Thanks for your comments. It was in the summer that this was done, so it was nice and dry. Perhaps it is the other side of the fence that hasn't been painted, the stain that is washing down the back and out underneath. Any advice on what would be best to clean it off the render? I thought...
