I'm about to fit a close coupled back to wall toilet. The toilet outlet is 169mm from the wall and the wall waste protrudes 90mm leaving just over 3 inches gap I don't know how far the flexible connector pushes on and in each end Can anyone suggest a suitable size (length) considering I'll have...

    Walk in shower sealing

Yes, I plan to build a screeded/tiled shower area, the drain will be lower than the existing floor level then tapered outwards for the correct fall. There is a tank already present as there wasn't a direct route from the toilet to the back drop manhole so I'll feed into that There is an existing...

    Walk in shower sealing

hi I'm thinking of building a walk in shower which is downstairs with an existing cement screeded floor. I'll have to break up some of the screed to fit a lower waste to a small plastic tank buried below the screed and but I'll have to breach the pvc membrane Any thoughts on how to repair the...

High flow gravity fed shower mixer

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm thinking about going for a manual mixer to get a decent flow, bit cheaper than taking a chance on another therm valve

High flow gravity fed shower mixer

Thanks guys. I've presently got a Mira Atom ev installed, on one website it shows the flow as 2.7 litres/min where some cheaper ones have up to 10 l/min. Just wondered if it was classed as eco Would I be able to change the cartridge to allow a better flow rate?

Vinyl flooring on old T&G Bathroom floor

Hi I'm looking to lay vinyl flooring on old & gappy t&g floor boards. I've seen 6 mm concrete boards in tile shops. Would this be ok to lay on top of the floorboards rather than ripping up the floor and laying mdf sheets I think the concrete boards can be made waterproof but wondering how...

working boiler, luke warm rads and hot water ok

Butting in on Simons reply, should be about 30 degrees and should turn freely. Try turning on the CH and see if the actuator works If you don't get any heat to all the rads after turning the valve manually the problem I think is elsewhere

Vaillant 438 open vent boiler noise

Sorry Tony, should have put my specs on its a 428 but still oversized Did you want the fitters name? I left it all up to him I previously had an Ideal Mexico rs60, looking at the tables is between 19.5 & 23.1 kW I suppose he worked off this rating but next size up, being higher efficiency he...

Vaillant 438 open vent boiler noise

Thanks for your input guys, seems like the problem is solved by setting the d0 to initially 18 but seemed to be to gentle a heat so left it at 20. Rads getting nice n hot without the noise Would you advise ramping it up bit by bit for economy or is it ok as it stands So grateful Chris

Vaillant 438 open vent boiler noise

A couple of weeks ago I had a downstairs TRV leak so I drained down and changed it While it was drained I changed a couple of dodgy looking bottle air vents, put in chemicals and topped up. When I turned the mains on nothing happened for a while, I played with the temp control knob and things...

    Flow rate

Just thinking, if it is 1/2 inch bore coming all the way from the water authorities stop cock that could be your problem. Modern thinking is to supply a minimum of 25mm o/d (18mm bore), 35mm is recommended If the input to your house is a fair bit away from the meter/ext stop cock you will get...

    Flow rate

Just had a thought. Obviously don't just cut the pipe because you need to keep the threaded ends left and right. If you can't move anything cut through the thing you arrowed, this will let you unscrew everything else Make sure you do this job in in the morning so you're not caught out needing a...
