    Shed Cladding...

Thanks, the link does include one decent option Marley Cedral which I've never heard of so a good start. There must be other options but the term fibre cement weatherboard gives me a term to use in my search.

    Shed Cladding...

Hi I'm looking at putting a shed together ideally 16 feet x 8 feet but probably a little under that. What are my options with regard to cladding these days (other than the traditional shiplap/loglap/etc), I'm thinking more of a maintenance free material i.e. plastic, metal, etc If you have...

Advice required on fireplace opening please

To be fair the guy came recommended by someone who has had work done and talked good sense in many other ways. We are having more quotes anyway so will go back to him and ask him to elaborate after I've spoken to the others but yeah it may end up being another installer!

Advice required on fireplace opening please

No, some type of aluminium/metal right angle fitted on the outside after fireboard and plastering fitted. When I get the quote through I'll go over it again because I'm sure there is a better way which is supported by others experiences.

Advice required on fireplace opening please

That's good and looks great, pretty much identical to what we hope to achieve. As a matter of interest what is the distance from the stove to the inner wall? Do you know was it standard plaster or heat resistant such as Vitcas? I just want to get it right first time:-) Thanks for the info. Simon

Advice required on fireplace opening please

I'm looking to open up a fireplace to have a wood burning stove fitted. My query is regarding using fireboard and how it is finished with the front face plaster wall. See the image (a mock up graphic) for the look we are after. A guy who is putting a quote together for us says it really needs a...

    Shed Base

I think that is a fair point about using a concrete base. I need to do some research regarding the drains, there would be no access point within 12-15 feet of the shed so I can't see it getting flooded...though who knows if the drain moved or cracked:-(

    Shed Base

I'm looking for some advice surrounding shed bases. I recently bought a house which has a pre-existing shed in the garden, it's OK for now but the base (flags) has moved, the shed is starting to go in places, and I'm 99% sure it is over foul water drains. I'm starting to think about how I will...

    Cutting Laminate Worktop Edging Strip?

Cheers for the advice. I'm not sure scissors will touch it but I'll give it a try first. Why couldn't they just have made it 42mm? :)

    Cutting Laminate Worktop Edging Strip?

Can anyone offer any thoughts on how I trim down laminate worktop edging strip. The worktop is 40mm tall and the edging strip which came with it (Duropal) is a good 45mm. The material is tough and brittle.

Kitchen Fitting Placement - Gas/Induction Hob

Thanks. We've had delivery of two gas hob (both the same model) but both have been damaged in transit. It and similarly styled ones which go with the look we wanted are unavailable and being quoted as supply issues. We were considering induction at the time of planning so it is back to plan B...

Kitchen Fitting Placement - Gas/Induction Hob

Not sure the is a typical appliance question so airing my question here. I'm proposing to put a 80-90cm gas or induction hob spanning over a 60cm oven housing and edging in to a set of drawers either side. Obviously I'd need to do some cutting out in the side panels but can you see any issues...

    Kitchen Worktop Overhang?

Great, thanks all. My wife is good with colours/design, etc but you are the best for the other stuff:) Thanks again.

    Kitchen Worktop Overhang?

Yes you word it better than me! Allowing for 18mm for the door, that would be 28mm from the carcass = 10mm overhang. Since posting this I have seen mention of 5-10mm on handleless doors. Our worktop has a 4mm radius so think using that I'd go to the 10mm. Does that sound right? Just nice to...

    Kitchen Worktop Overhang?

Just putting the cabinets in and thinking about what overhang I should have say from the front of the doors to the front edge of the worktop? The units are highline handleless, so I'm thinking of minimum overhang. The worktop are a 40mm laminate, small radius. Is a 10mm overhang enough would...

    Honeywell T6060 Replacement?

Our Honeywell T6060 is looking ancient and out of place, what could I replace it with? It doesn't have to be clever, just functional and more up to date. Just taken the lid off and there are 4 wires in there: Blue - Connected Yellow - Connected Red- Unconnected Earth - Unconnected
