    Bathroom Drain Venting Help

It could be, it only happens very occasionally so I haven't spent much time trying to get to the bottom of it, I'll have a look at the u-bends when I take them off. As I described in the OP as the sink drain comes out a bit higher than the bath one there isn't much run on it (+/-8ft horizontal...

    Bathroom Drain Venting Help

That's weird, I can't see them on my phone either but can on my laptop... I just copy and pasted them in and that seems to be working. What do people on here use for photo hosting as historically forums didn't like you saving photos within posts as is uses up server space (maybe thats not an...

    Bathroom Drain Venting Help

Hi, Looking for a little help on the drainage system for my bathroom. The first picture shows how everything is at the moment. The bath and sink drain separately to the outside grey water stack which is vented at the top. The toilet drains out the 4'' cast iron pipe but also seems to have a...

Centra heating pump does not run constantly when heating on

I'll have a look when I get home for a model number etc but its definitely a Baxi Solo, the previous owner advised it was replaced in 2011 and it does look fairly new. It is condensing, well I presume it is, it has a pipe that runs into the drain outside. It maybe does have a slight overrun...

Centra heating pump does not run constantly when heating on

Thanks for your advice. The boiler is about 4 years old apparently. Why do you say that stored hot water is better than hot water on demand? I know that a tank is pretty efficient at heating water whereas a combi is less so, but surely this would be offset by only heating the water you need...

Centra heating pump does not run constantly when heating on

Suddenly in possession because I have just moved in! If I shut off a few of the radiators then it improves. When I build up some funds I'll be replacing the whole lot with a combi system anyway so I'm just wondering if there's something obvious I can do to get a more operable system in the...

Centra heating pump does not run constantly when heating on

Thanks for that. TBH the radiators have been fine recently but the hot water tank (in the attic) never gets very hot off the heating and needs to be boosted by the immersion to give me properly hot water. To describe my system further, I only have one "zone" the heating and hot water are on...

Centra heating pump does not run constantly when heating on

Hi, I hope this isn't a silly question but when the heating is switched on (or comes on on the timer) the pump starts circulating shortly followed by the boiler firing up. When it gets everything up to temperature the boiler switches off as one would expect but then the pump switches off...

    Coaxial connectors

I am intending to take the TV ariel into my attic then split it 3 ways to a TV in the living room, kitchen and bedroom. I have seen a few splitters for sale but they all seem to have the f-type "sky" threaded connectors rather than the usual TV push pull coax ones (I don't know what their real...

    Sky+ and TV wiring

Thanks Alan I think we are on the same wavelength. The setup I have at the moment in my current flat (not the flat in question) The sky comes straight in through the wall to the box, with shotgun cable as you describe. There is a coax socket for the TV ariel in the living room, in this socket...

    Sky+ and TV wiring

Thanks for the concise answers. Ok, so I guess I could get the sky guy to fit the dish, take the cables into the attic then down the back of the wall? I have already got a string down and a hole made for a socket. I suppose I could put in a TV socket and just drill a hole in the face plate...

    Sky+ and TV wiring

Hi all, My flat currently has the old school TV ariel cable straight in through the window into the back of the TV. I will be getting Sky so I was planning on running the cables from the dish and TV ariel into the loft into some kind of splitter box (if anyone knows of good ones please let...

Rearranging Bathroom, are these plans feasible?

I didn't think that would really help, a shower unit would be at least as wide as a bath and would look strange against the back wall as there's a window there. I suppose I could put a shower in the middle of the room so its where the other end of the bath is just now, that would take it away...

Rearranging Bathroom, are these plans feasible?

Yes could do that, but have more long term plans that would involve that room (stairs and loft conversion). I'm just looking at a cheap and easy way of having a more practical bathroom for the next few years.

Rearranging Bathroom, are these plans feasible?

Thanks, yeah I feared that. Its a weird shaped space saver bath at the moment but it doesn't really help, the widest bit is where your legs are at if you are sitting. Do you get baths narrower than 700mm? I can't seem to see any. Haven't looked at any saniflow etc ideas, what's peoples...

Rearranging Bathroom, are these plans feasible?

Hi, My bathroom is very small, 1.2m wide by approx 2.5m long. I believe I can rearrange it to make more effective use of the space but this would involve moving the toilet. See below (badly) hand drawn plan of how it is just now. As you can see the toilet is alongside the bath, this...

Hot water in expansion tank + other heating questions

Only way of controlling the water temperature that I can see is the valve on the pipes outside the cylinder, it's the same as a radiator valve, goes from 1 - 7 and has a max. You can't have only hot water other than turning the radiators off. All the radiators still seem to get just as hot...

Hot water in expansion tank + other heating questions

Thanks, There's some pictures. The clock is a Danfos SET1E. There are 3 tanks in the loft, the expansion tank, hot water tank and the cold water tank for the hot water. No motorised valves that I can see, only valves are the radiator ones and the aforementioned one on...

Hot water in expansion tank + other heating questions

As you can see, the larger diameter pipe going to the loft is the one that flows into the header tank, the smaller diameter one comes from it. Both are on the outlet of the boiler but before the pump. The pump is on the correct way. From what I can see the hot water and heating are all on one...
