    Garden Lighting

Hi, I am looking for advice regarding garden lighting to illuminate trees and bushes at the end of my garden some 25 meters from the house. I am not too certain of using mains voltages in the garden and would prefer not to go this route. I have searched for suitable products with not much luck...

This reply solved the problem. By simply changing to a different brand bulb resolved the issue. Thank you.

    LED downlight remaining on

Thank you for your reply, I am unsure of " capacitively coupled power" but can understand the principle of "induction" in the cables causing this to happen. Is this a close enough assumption?

    glass in a garage roof

To capture the most solar gain in my proposed garage roof I'm interested in your views of fitting double glazed units to replace the bottom 3 rows of concrete roof tiles along the south facing elevation, similar to a conservatory style roof. I've never seen this done and wonder if it's possible...

    Building contract

Why do you not use fixed price servicing? If additional work is required you have the option to not do any and drive the vehicle elsewhere . Anyhow this is getting away from the point . It appears I won't get a fixed price. Thank you all for your input.

    Building contract

And if they find an electronic sensor warning, but they can't narrow it down to the part, the sensor, the wiring or the main control unit, then you will pay for the diagnostic time and parts. The garage won't give you a fixed quote beforehand because they don't know what the work involves or...

    Building contract

Why does it appear to be too the builder's advantage? Read more: //www.diynot.com/diy/threads/building-contract.456150/#ixzz43wQdlJC9 Once under contract the builder may decide to price any additional work at an exorbitant cost, somewhat difficult to negotiate for me once work has begun...

    Building contract

The drawings are to planning and building regs spec and reasonably detailed and informative. Two areas of my concern are the type of steel beam that will span a 4 Meter opening and the depth of foundation . The architect suggests a box beam 200x 100 will be sufficient the builder suggests an RSJ...

    Building contract

A builder has suggested a "plain English domestic contract for minor building works" is suitable for our extension build. As a novice it appears to be open ended to the builders advantage regarding additional works and costs that may arise. My concerns are he may try to " bump up" the price as...

Glowworm ultracon HXI 30 modulating. Seems adequate for our needs at the moment, however we live in a 70's bungalow where the heating has been chopped and changed about over the years and would prefer to leave well alone rather than modifying thing even further. At present we have a massive...
