How can I treat the rust at the base of this metal gazebo ?

Hi there My mate sold me his old gazebo. It's only 2 years old but I've noticed quite a bit of rust at the bottom of some of the support poles. I wondered if anyone has any ideas on the best way to treat this?

Anyone heard of anything I can use to supplement my slabs over-hang?

Thanks. What would you advise for fixing the U-channel or plastic conduit?

Anyone heard of anything I can use to supplement my slabs over-hang?

I was hoping to space the water/crap away from the wall enough that it would just fall to the ground then (and not make contact with the wall on the way down) - if possible

Anyone heard of anything I can use to supplement my slabs over-hang?

I was just thinking of mounting the U-channel upside down and deforming it so it sloped away from the slabs (in black) and the water/crap would run down the back of the U-channel and drip off the end at a safe distance away from the wall :)

Anyone heard of anything I can use to supplement my slabs over-hang?

Thanks for the suggestion. Why do you think it would be a waste of time? Do you not think the 'extra lip' would stay on the wall?

Anyone heard of anything I can use to supplement my slabs over-hang?

Yep, that's not a bad idea. I originally thought of some white plastic trunking. I think if I mounted the U-channel upside down and deformed it slightly so it was sloping downwards from the wall then the furthest face would act to make sure the water/etc dripped off the end.... thanks :)

Anyone heard of anything I can use to supplement my slabs over-hang?

I'd ideally like white trim. I don't think it would look too bad. Certainly happy to live with the trim rather than the dirt/staining on the wall. The water in the photo isn't really an issue - that wall has already been cleaned - it's crap from the trees at the back that runs down the wall...

Anyone heard of anything I can use to supplement my slabs over-hang?

Good idea! I'll look into it and see if I can find anything suitable Thanks! I've just Googled them but I'm not sure they are the right profile. Will keep looking for something similar though. Thanks for all the advice so far :)

Anyone heard of anything I can use to supplement my slabs over-hang?

Hi all, When we got our garden done last year we had major issues with the porcelain slabs. I won't bore you with the details but, basically, they needed lifting and re-laying which has resulted in us only having a small over-hang. Also the water runs through the gaps between the tiles. This...

What lubricant do I need to drill porcelain slabs?

Thanks for that. Wish I'd known that before I started :) I've been going slow but with some pressure. Not letting it get hot. I was under the impression that you shouldn't let them get so hot that they couldn't comfortably be touched? So, should I be going fast and light pressure? I've done 30...

What lubricant do I need to drill porcelain slabs?

Thanks Mike. Yep, I've been using white tack, rolled into a sausage and wrapped around the hole to make a bund, then regularly topped up with water as I drill. I'm managing about 12 - 15 holes per drill bit. Slow going. Spent most of the weekend on it and only managed 30 holes so far until rain...

What lubricant do I need to drill porcelain slabs?

Thanks for that. It's not a problem I can buy another one if needed. Appreciate the help. Thanks :-)

What lubricant do I need to drill porcelain slabs?

That's a great idea with the bluetack. I'm glad water will be sufficient. Just a side question (as you seem to know what you're talking about) - is there an easy way to tell when the bit will need changing? I've got about 40 holes to drill. I'm not sure what sort of life expectancy these...

What lubricant do I need to drill porcelain slabs?

It won't be sufficient for the amount of holes I need to drill. It's mostly gone and that's just one hole. Do you know if there's anything else that's suitable? Or can I buy more of the wax? Thanks

What lubricant do I need to drill porcelain slabs?

Hi all, I've got 600x600x20mm porcelain slabs in my garden. I need to drill 3 x 12mm holes in some of them to fix a balustrade to. I bought an Erbauer Diamond Tile Drill Bit (12mm) from Screwfix and I've just done a test cut - which went really well (see photo). I'm using a piece of wood to...

Advice on fixing balustrade poles to porcelain tiles (photos inside)?

Thanks for that. I've measured out for the glass so hopefully it'll be okay but I'm sure there'll be lessons along the way (there always is with these things). Cheers :-)
