So, after multiple heating, spraying with PlusGas and cooling cycles I've so far only managed to break off the handle.
I suppose I'll keep going with the heat, spray, cooling cycle and try to turn with stilsons...or give up and get a pro in.
Appreciate all the responses folks.

doing a bit more reading. This is an interesting piece https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3700

...I'll do a bit more heating, spraying and cooling throughout...
My heat gun's a Wagner Furno 750, 50 - 630 centigrade.
Was thinking of buying a cheap car wheel wrench, cutting a slot in the end to get a purchase on the tap and trying to turn it through that good, balanced leverage.
Not urgent in any way but cannot unseize this stop tap.
I loosened the packing box and sprayed WD 40. Heated it up with a heat gun and sprayed some more. Repeated a number of times but can't get it to turn at all.
Any tips please?
Here's another one...question that is.
If I needed to replace one of the cartridges is it the case that I just shut off the water supply, unscrew the cartridge and screw in the new one?

As the title states I need to know what this plastic part, which engages with the cartridge spline, is called to so that I might source a replacement.
Thanks in advance
From my position of heating and plumping ignorance it seems arguable that the control box is in one of the three acceptable positions as it sits on the topside of the pump.
It's just that the whole unit is upside down.
Thanks for the replies.
New information:
So, hot water from the boiler is entering the cylinder but is cold on the return.
Logic suggests that it isn't continuing through the cylinder coil else it would heat up the surrounding water. Or is my logic flawed and there's another explanation?
Afternoon all
I have a conventional heating sytem with conventional boiler and hot water tank.
Though the central heating is working as it always has, piping hot, the hot water coming out of the taps has, over time, become less hot anad is now pretty much cold.
Before I get a plumber involved...
Ciao folks
Is anyone able to tell me what this type of fastener is called. Photo's show front and back.
For an idea of scale the mesh size is 4mm*4mm
