Thanks for this, will any piece of wood approximately the right size be suitable for plugging the gap? It is an odd shape.

I want to fill the gap between a slate hearth, and a floating engineered oak wooden floor. We have a wood burner, and ash has a tendency to find its way into the gap. How should the gap be filled please? Thanks

thanks for the reply! The other tiles have a layer of plaster between the plaster board and the tiles, should I try and replicate the plaster layer for this tile?

Thanks for the reply and advice @opps. Not sure if the finish is water based, and not not sure how to tell. Based on your advice, I plan to 1. Sand gently to remove flaked paint 2. spot prime 3. touch up with similar coloured water based paint.

Hello, The paint on one of my window cills has started to come off (see photos), and I want to prevent further deterioration of the paint, or damage to the wooden cill underneath. This is the only window cill in the house which has this issue, so I was hoping there might be a temporary fix...
