A rookie asks about ptfe tape

Hi all, the T valve connected to my washing machine has seized and I'd like to change it to plumb in a new machine. Could one of you good people advise me if I should use PTFE tape and if so, how and what type. As the title suggests, I'm a rookie so please keep it simple! Many Thanks.

    Replace Roof Tile

Kitchen roof is around 6 yrs old and easily accessible from the landing window. Dry ridging was applied so should be easily enough to repair, just a bit concerned if every tile is nailed down I could end up breaking more trying to remove the nails. The tile was broken by the painters clambering...

    Replace Roof Tile

Hi, I have a cracked roof tile which is two rows down from the ridges, this makes it impossible to slide the above tiles upwards to replace it. How would I resolve this? I'm thinking of just plugging the crack with some ready mix cement if I can't replace it. Thanks.

Solar panel not working after rain penetration

Hi All, This isn't an electrical question, but a trivial one concerning a small solar panel. I have lights in my garage run by a small 1.5w, 5.5v, supposedly waterproof solar panel, which started to flicker and then stopped working. When I opened up the back of the panel the rainwater ran out...

    Tritan Shower Overflow Problem?

Hi all, it's the OP here (I changed my username due to security reasons). All is ok with my Tritan Madrid now. The problem indeed turned out to be a blown "burst disc" which was caused by water being forced back into the system by a multi-setting shower head. Thanks very much indeed for your...

    Tritan Shower Overflow Problem?

I removed the shower cover and the PRD, there is a membrane cover that has blown. This now makes sense as the problem has only surfaced since I replaced the original shower head which, along with a possible kink in the old hose, must have been forcing the water back? I have ordered 2 PRD's...

    Tritan Shower Overflow Problem?

How easy is the PRV to replace? Looking at diagrams it seems there are just two screws?

    No I haven't replaced it.

    Tritan Shower Overflow Problem?

It has only started to happen since I removed the shower head to descale it, a new head & hose hasn't solved the problem so a new shower maybe the only option.

    Tritan Shower Overflow Problem?

Hi Everyone, I have a Triton Madrid electric shower which is around 12 years old and the overflow is leaking. I thought there might be a kink in the hose, so I replaced both hose and head but with no success. This only happens when I lift the shower head parallel or nearly parallel to the...

    Sticking Dual Flush System.

Well, I soaked it in a bucket of bleach & water overnight & then let it dry thoroughly. I then applied some WD40 to the moving parts (bizarre I know but I read it in an old post on here) and after a few flushes it has stopped sticking. If the problem returns I will try white vinegar or limescale...

    Sticking Dual Flush System.

@ETAF I replaced the previous two. This tends to happen every couple of years and would prefer to resolve the problem rather than buy new every time. I might remove it & give it a good scrub. I'm tempted to soak it overnight in bleach & water (but maybe that would cause any rubber to perish?)

    Sticking Dual Flush System.

Hi, as the title suggests the Siampa dual flush system on my WC is sticking. The "tube" in the centre of the main body is refusing to drop down, allowing water to continue to run into the pan - a bit annoying when you're on a water metre. This is the third time it has happened and I don't...

    Flattened Tap Screw

Thanks for the replies, I decided to replace the taps as suggested by Andy from @HERTS P&D. However, this lead to another dilemma... When I turned the taps on to check for leaks (there weren't any from the taps) I noticed that the plastic flexi hose which leads to the waste/overflow pipe was...
