    Alpha CB24 pressure dropping regularly

I had a quick glance earlier but nothing you could describe as an inspection. The external pipework is below the bedroom window and my eyesight is rubbish, so I'll have a look in the daylight tomorrow. The pressure on the boiler is topping out at maximum when it's on, but I don't know if that's...

    Alpha CB24 pressure dropping regularly

I've inspected it as best I can, the only thing I can find that could be a leak is a stain on the carpet right underneath where the pipework was for a radiator we had removed. I don't know is this is a leak or from where it was removed. I've put some tissue paper under it to see what happens...

    Alpha CB24 pressure dropping regularly

Thanks. That might explain why the engineer didn't want to come back out! I had no idea a leak could be the cause, so I hadn't checked for that. I know zip about boilers and my plumbing knowledge extends to swapping taps and changing washers. It's already been repaired at least once before I...

    Alpha CB24 pressure dropping regularly

Hi everyone, I have an Alpha CB24 boiler that was installed in 2001. I bought the place two years ago and had it checked, the gas engineer said it was fine but the seals may need replacing in the next couple of years. I've no idea what the seals are but he didn't seem concerned in the...

    Guttering and drainpipe leaking

Thanks, good to know, I'd have missed the bits of downpipe inbetween the fittings had you not said that. That's almost certainly the problem I have now then, the two 112 degree bend pipes go directly into each other. No downpipe inbetween.

    Guttering and drainpipe leaking

Thanks Notch, good to know I'm on the right track I'm probably going to pop up Wickes tonight and grab the bits, I don't like them but it is nearer my house and I can just get it done. I'll buy the extra downpipe because it's only a few quid, but is the length of pipe that connects the swan...

    Guttering and drainpipe leaking

Hi everyone, I noticed the other day our drainpipe out the front of the house was leaking. We've not had this place long and this was noticed on the survey, but the seller claimed it had been repaired (lesson learnt there). I've had a look at it, and the pipework seemed to have come loose. I...

    Squirty mixer tap

All sorted, lo and behold, I took the hose off and there was no washer. Popped a new one in and it worked perfectly again. Thanks for your help, you've saved me a fair chunk of change. I've repaired this sodding tap three times now and thought it was time to call it quits and get a new one fitted.

Drying time for concrete after boiler leak

I would say so since you used a dehumidifer. I'd have given it about 2 weeks without one so you should be OK.

    Speed up a Netbook?

An SSD will give you HUGE speed increases over some extra RAM. Get one of these if you want the same amount of space, Samsung are a good make. If you don't even touch the sides of 250GB, you can get smaller ones for less. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-inch-Solid-State-Drive/dp/B00P736UEU/...

    Squirty mixer tap

Good tip, cheers. I might get a few different sizes too, just in case. I live in a hard water area, so it's not like they'll sit around for long unused.

    Fantastic, thank you!

    Squirty mixer tap

That would make complete sense as the sealant job was due to a leak and caused chaos, so I had bits everywhere. The video was processing, but it should be available now. I'm due a screwfix order so chucking in a 75p washer is definitely worth a try. Thank you.

    Squirty mixer tap

Hi everyone, I took the shower hose off my shower mixer tap to redo the sealant. I've reattached it, however the water now sprays out of the top. I've tried twisting it around to make sure it's properly on, but it makes no odds. Is there a way I can fix this, or would I need to replace the...

    Any Dulux Endurance alternatives?

Thanks, I'm on a budget so trying to find the right balance between quality and cost, and Endurance seemed to ticked the box. I only need one or two 2.5l cans now though trade paint might not break the bank.

    Any Dulux Endurance alternatives?

Hi all, I've been looking for Dulux Endurance in chic shadow but it's always sold out at my local DIY store. Are there any other brands of paint that offer similar qualities (hard wearing, scrubbable, easy to clean). I want something a bit tougher than silk paint. I know I can order it online...
