Gas fire back panel to fire surround gap

Hi, 3rd post here and just hoping for a little guidance, not sure if this is posted on the right section though. I have just purchased a plaster fire surround (not everyone is a fan I know) and I have overlooked requesting the measurement of the rebate. When the surround is against the wall...

2 Gang switch wiring - Swap left for right switch

Swapped it over no probs. Wrote the numbers on masking tape at the ends of the wires to make it idiot proof. All works fine, just got to turn the upstrairs switch 180 degrees so it operates the correct way around (OCD again!) Thank you very much for your guidance!:-D

2 Gang switch wiring - Swap left for right switch

Hi, just to be clear, when Sparwright says A1, A2 ans A3, mine are labelled A, A1 and A2. Does my A on the switch become A1 on his list? And my A1 become his A2 etc? Thanks again

2 Gang switch wiring - Swap left for right switch

Okay thank you. You are right, I do not know much about electrics but thought I had given the info needed using a basic test meter, but obviously wrong. I would never take on a larger job as i do not have the knowledge but thought this could be fairly straight forward. Will continue know and let...

2 Gang switch wiring - Swap left for right switch

Haha, glad I'm not the only one, although I have only lived here 1 year. Probably take me a few months to remember it is swapped over haha.

2 Gang switch wiring - Swap left for right switch

Thanks Flameport. My mistake. I could not find a live there, but maybe if other switches were in certain positions (upstairs) it would become live. Hopefully it will be a straightforward swap over whilst obviously taking care. Thank you

Perfect! Thank you so much Sparkwright. I will start tomorrow morning and turn the fusebox off all together. I may put small labels on each wire if I can get in. Will let you know how I get on tomorrow. Thanks again Sparkwright :-)

2 Gang switch wiring - Swap left for right switch

Hi All I am hoping someone can assist in an OCD matter haha. It is a hallway 2 gang switch but would like the switching swapped from side to side.. The left switch operates the downstairs light, and the right switch operates the upstairs light, but it should be the other way around. They both...

    Central heating issues

Hi, just to let you have an update. As you said Terry, no good with the original pump, I think the cleanser and water had got to the printed circuit so it had to be replaced. I wanted to use a model without the electrical cover at the front, just in case the pipe blockage was causing the...

    Central heating issues

Hi, got boiler working and all seemed great for a day. All radiators bled, bled the vent pipe behind the pump a few times to keep the water rising. I was going to see what you guys thought of Sentinel X400 or X800 overnight, but probably wasting my time using it anyway. You are right, the pipes...

    Central heating issues

No I have just checked all the fuses and junction box near the pump. Not sure what the white box with Drayton actuator on it. That wouldn't affect it would it. I seem to be posting more and more problems. I have tried your magnet test again, and I was trying pipes further up and I don't know if...

    Central heating issues

Hi Terry Yes bled all the radiators downstairs then upstairs before starting the heating. They are all full and bled. Yes the boiler is not firing up, even for hot water as there is a separate Honeywell switch for hot water and heating. Just removed the front and the screw from the pump. The...

    Central heating issues

Despite all that thick sludge etc, the motor itself seemed fine. No damage to the impeller and it turned smoothly. I put it all back together last night but tried re-filling this morning. All seemed to be going well, heating 3 radiators downstairs. There seemed like some air locks with noises...
