    soundproofing party walls

Mainly a lot of noise due to 1) noisy neighbours (heavy footed kids and very irritating dog (that needs its bark removing  ) 2) possibly only single breeze party walls 3) no sound insulation between them ( they didnt really bother in the 60s apparently, not with ex council)

    soundproofing party walls

Not sure, dont think so. Its a concrete ground floor with underfloor elec heating. construction is standard bricks and tiled roof. Houses are just staggered. So one neighbour is above and one neighbour below (slightly). And all face the same way our living room to neighbours stairs, not stairs...

    soundproofing party walls

Thanks Den, Sounds great. However money and sanity are very low at the moment. So limited to what I can do. I intend to start taking down the 24/26 foot wall (gulp!) down stairs this weekend. That will give me a chance to see how much difference it will make. The upstairs I have skimmed...

    soundproofing party walls

I was having a lot of trouble with noise from neighbours. Their stairs are adjacent to our living room and bedroom. I could hear them running up and down the stairs, talking, shouting etc... all very annoying!!! So I have put up 2 massive stud walls (up stairs and downstairs against all...

    hot water cylinder

My hot water had stopped working so i decided to investigate. I have a hot water cylinder and an immersion heater. I tried the obvious things first.... connections, thermastat. all seemed fine. So thought I'd go and get a new element for about £20 as that was the only thing left that could be...

    Thermal heat stores?

Well house is probably only worth maybe 90K at a push, was bought for 78k just over a year ago. (ex-council house). I do understand that gas boiler is the way to go (even though gas prices are rising). The problem is if you can only get £2.5K together at the most cause of all other debts and...

    Thermal heat stores?

They won't connect gas off existing neighbours because pressure wont be enough. So have to go off the nearest main, which is about 2 or 3 streets away. Theres only our 1 next door neighbour that also want gas (cause all others have it), but again were quoted silly £6K + even then its at least...

    Changing Indirect Hot Water Cylinder

Turn off your water at the mains. Then run you hot tap until there nothing left. That should empty your cylinder.

    Thermal heat stores?

Our house does not currently have gas. And is too expensive to get it installed. We don't currently have any efficient form of heating and have really poor hot waster pressure. We just have hot waster cylinder, immersion heater on E7. Was quoted about £6K to get gas installed from about 60...

2 new spurs via junction box from ring main

2 new spurs via junction box from ring main

Was going to go from existing dbl socket. But I shall extend the ring main (i shall find the cable from the existing dbl socket and extend from there). I suppose that way I can add my 2 dbl sockets and continue the ring. Won't exactly be ring shaped so to speak (but that cant be hepled)...

2 new spurs via junction box from ring main

My Master Bedroom only has 1 double socket. This socket is to the rear of the right side of the bed. I wish to add another double socket at the left rear side of the bed. This is run a clock and a lamp mainly. So we will end up with socket at either side of bed behind bde side cabinets. The...
