    New Hive issues

Naturellement I don't have the right size of screwdriver so this'll have to wait! I'm convinced it's essentially wired backwards and should work if the wires are swapped...

    New Hive issues

Ok thanks. In the interim, can I "fix" it by marrying up the heating/hot water schedule?

    New Hive issues

Just had Hive installed on my Glowworm combi boiler. It has HW and CH controls. The boiler doesn't seem to care if HW is "on" or not on the Hive (I assume that this is normal if HW is "on" on the boiler, but what is weird is that when HW is "on" on Hive, CH is also flashing on boiler - so "on"...

New HF 4pin bulb not lighting

Thanks for all the tips. It worked when I switched the lamp (2D type) to the 28W - came on immediately and burned properly. When we moved in the existing bulb was flickering all the time, turns out it was a 33W so obviously not compatible with the fitting. As for getting rid of the fitting, no...

New HF 4pin bulb not lighting

Perfect! That makes sense. Never had one of these before, so just assumed that like an old filament lamp you could put a higher wattage in for a brighter light! Showing my age and ignorance there!

New HF 4pin bulb not lighting

Just had the 4 pin bulb go in my kitchen ceiling light. Bought a replacement (38W) but when I went to fit it it glows briefly then stops. Checked the fitting, and it says 28W only. Planning to swap the bulb at B & Q today but is this the only possible problem? Or could there also be an issue...

Whirring, then grinding noise, now speedo not working

No wheel bearing faults per the people at Halfords... I'll double check the tyres - why do you ask?

Whirring, then grinding noise, now speedo not working

Well, at least it was nothing glaringly obvious.

Whirring, then grinding noise, now speedo not working

Well the verdict is there's nothing obviously wrong, but suggest a gearbox specialist to look at it. What's weird is that since the speedo failed the noise is much more sporadic...

Whirring, then grinding noise, now speedo not working

Well I've just dropped it off with Halfords who suspect a bearing in the transmission so we'll see what they come back with...

Whirring, then grinding noise, now speedo not working

Unfortunately I'm brassic so can't afford to pay for anyone to look at it. Halfords at least offer a free repair check.

Whirring, then grinding noise, now speedo not working

Not yet, however I'm taking it to Halfords tomorrow for a free repair check so hopefully they will give me an idea of what's going on. Will be mightily relieved if it is just the speedo cable to be honest!

Whirring, then grinding noise, now speedo not working

Update : it doesn't seem to make a noise during gentle acceleration, only if the pedal is pushed more firmly
