    Hikvision Illegal Logins

Unfortunately the second you put something on the internet people will try and login to it... There is a website called Shodan which scans the internet (any IP, any port) and stores information about what is out there, you can probably search on there for Hikvision and get to people's login...

    Neighbours Rotten Wooden Windows

Ok, here is the photo, sorry it took so long to get to you, I had to wait until he was out, its an over the fence job, sorry its not particularly good quality / clear. As you can see the top piece of wood is fairly rotten, the soil stack is leaking causing more rot to the upright and the window...

    Condensation Outlet

I think taking 2 years to notice is an easy one to cover, until recently we haven't really gone out into the rear garden when the heating is on, there is no reason to go out there in cold weather. However now we've got the pupper we are obviously going out there very frequently, and hence there...

    Neighbours Rotten Wooden Windows

Ok, next time his car isn't outside I'll take a couple of photos of the offending window & door. The house is a 1920s terrace, honestly I don't know much about the construction of them I am a complete noob when it comes to buildings so I couldn't suggest the wall construction. I know there is a...

    Neighbours Rotten Wooden Windows

Hi All, Looking for a bit of advice, we live next to a chap who is errrr, not the most social can we say, he has uPVC windows around most of his house with associated lintels, but his back door and kitchen window are wooden and are heavily rotten, I didn't think too much about it until I read...

    Programmable current activated relay.

I would personally buy a CurrentCost ENVI, they are a 433mhz CT Clamp thats battery operated (batteries last for years) that you put over your meter tails and they report in the consumption ever 6 seconds, you can then intercept their radio using an Software Defined Radio USB stick like a...

    WiFi Temperature & Humidity Sensors

Morning, - Yep it is relative humidity, the sensor comes pre calibrated and seems reasonably accurate, the spec sheet seems to think ~1% I have no way to validate it but all of these sensors left in a box with some silica gel all seem to concur with each other so I would say thats good enough...

    Condensation Outlet

Well, it is what it is, I guess all we can do is put it right now, I'll get my heating blokey on the phone tomorrow and see what he comes up with. I mean it's taken me almost 2 years of living here to realise when its somewhat dry but the heating is on my patio gets flooded with acidic ****... o_O

    Condensation Outlet

I am pretty sure, the boiler flue is pretty much directly above it, and I can literally follow the pipe through the wall and into the bottom of the boiler. If someone wobbles the pipe outside you can even see it wobbling on the inside :D

    Condensation Outlet

Yep the air gap totally makes sense, but my concern is more actually if the temperatures drop what stops the end of this pipe freezing and the water backing up into the boiler anyway... Unfortunately the boiler is the other side of the kitchen from the sink etc... So I am not sure how we can...

    WiFi Temperature & Humidity Sensors

Evening All, Just wanted to show off some little WiFi Temperature and Humidity sensors I have been making as part of my DIY Hive / Nest equivalent. The idea of these are to act as room sensors and then plan on having WiFi enabled radiator valves. Currently I only have the sensors up and...

Is it ok to run POE Cat6 runs with standard Cat6 runs...

Sure but if you are putting it in the wall think about future proofing the cable by getting high spec Cat7 cable. Its quite a bit chunkier than Cat5 or Cat6 and hence is a pain to route around corners, it's almost stiff to work with but in a few years time when you upgrade from 1gbps to 10gbps...

    Condensation Outlet

Ok, no problem, in this case I'll give the servicing guy a call, I trust him reasonably well to be honest, and he is GasSafe registered, he is just quite old school and only a few years off retirement so he probably doesn't want too much hassle these days, sticking his probe in your flue and...

    Condensation Outlet

Damn, acidic nasty stuff, I guess I better keep the dog away from it until I get this rectified. Is it the sort of thing I can just plumb it into the nearest drain via extending the pipe and put some caulk in the hole? Or is it best to query it with my gas engineer? He didn't install the boiler...

    Condensation Outlet

Here is the photo... https://imgur.com/a/ALcwKOg Interesting if this is meant to be plumbed to a drain, weird why it wasn't done when the sewage down pipe is literally right next to the pipe, and a gutter down pipe into another drain is literally a few feet away.

    Condensation Outlet

It is the plastic pipe, there is a copper pipe next to it with a cap like thing on the end of it, nothing is dripping out of that one, only the plastic.

    Condensation Outlet

It is a plastic pipe, comes out of the bottom of the boiler and right through the wall, I checked the boiler service manual from the diagram I am fairly confident it is the condensate outlet but I haven't taken the case off the boiler to check if it is connected to the condensate trap inside...
