thanks for the reply mate, im partly going for a combi to free up thecupboard in the bathroom - need the space. Im going for the hive as as far as i know, its wireless, the house i just sold had Nest and they were wired to the boiler, can do that here without making holes in walls etc

so you whacked it all and then leave the blocks 10mm proud you mean? and they whack down to the correct level? id have thought they wouldnt have whacked down that much after all the other compacting and yes, the ground glass looks just like sand from what i saw

what do you use? ive seen some use ground glass

Hi there Im just wondering if you guys generally whack the sand before laying the blocks (and then add a 2nd layer of sand) or only whack after leaving the blocks proud enough to allow for compaction? Ive been given different advice and wondered if theres a best method? thanks

yes thats right, which if im correct means fire ratings not necessary. As you say though, maybe the ones ive seen do already hve am in fire rating but it doesnt say so on the description

thanks, they are in the kitchen and a couple in the ensuite. In both cases they are flat to the ceiling and not recessed which if i understand correctly decides if they need to be fire rated or not
